Here is a WIP of My first Pretender attempt, Octopunch The bot can go into the shell (which was a big win for me). I updated his design a bit by using a modern deep sea diving helm, and I made his crab a bit more Cybertronian by adding wheels instead of legs. The Bot will be getting a new head, and I will be painting him up, as soon as the blackcoat dries. Also, I'd like to thank DSN1014, Aprim, Shadeozero, and others who have attempted Pretenders before me, and have inspired me to try this. THANKS MATES! Update on Page 5
*jaw drops* Wow...well done, sir, well done! Can't wait to see him painted...looks like you defintely captured the spirit of the original with a few twists of your own as well! If it's it not too exhausting to list, what were some of the parts you used....I recognize a Tribal Hulk figure of some kind, I think, plus the mini Y-Wing...makes me wonder if there's potential in any of those other small SWTFs I've been ignoring on the shelf.
Yeap, he's blackcoated atm... Thanks mate Thanks Thanks mate! Here's the part list: The Shell: The Helm and middle torso was from a Nat Geo deep-sea diving suit. The Head, Arms, and the left & right sections of the torso are from Tribal Hulk(that the arms are attached... I bi-sected Hulk's torso down the middle) The Legs are from a Spawn figure (they have no real posability as I need them to support the upper body's bulk). The Tentacles are from a Marvel Selects Doc-Oc fig. then A lot of Sculpting to add his armour. The Bot: Small scout-sized Y-wing Transformer that was miss-transformed with added wheels, and claws... and a new head to be added soon
I'm starting a slow clap over here. Magnificent! My only concern was having "rescue" on a Decepticon, but it sounds like you have that under control.
Thanks mates! Aye lol, and thanks Aye, the "rescue" is gone lol... Thanks mate! Here are a few shots of Octopunch with the blackcoat (while drying), I think it really begins to show off the details. Enjoy:
This is gorgeous! I love how well the upper body mass works with the pretender feature while still giving the figure such an incredible silhouette!
this is sick!! some innovative use of molds coupled with crazy sculpting's going on here. so many nice throwbacks to g1 too. just missing a grill on his helmet's glass
