so... don't know much about Japanese G1, but decided i wanted an Overlord.

i'm the type of person if i want something, ill just go and buy it.. so i was searching the boards and found a couple in the past couple weeks, but none were complete, so i tried tfieds.com. I found one, complete, with box, tech spec, red decoder thingie and 2 missiles (out of 3).. so i guess thats not complete ha ha.

i was under the assumption that it was white, but the jet is actually yellowing. seems a little played with.. but im still happy with my purchase..

i got it for $360 shipped... here's some pics!

let me know if you guys think it was a good deal, as i only know US g1.

if you want to replace that missle, i'm pretty sure they are the same as metroplex's missles.

well, when i was emailing with the guy, he said there wasnt any yellowing at all.. i guess i got hoodwinked.

i dunno.. maybe eventually i can find a jet with parts that are not yellowing and replace it. i just thought it was hard to find one pretty much complete, with a nice box and foam.. without having to drop $5-600+

i'd get in contact with the seller imediatly and re-negotiate the price based on the yellowing. the item was clearly misrepresented and at the very least you should work on a partial refund for such a high end item.

Agreed. That is much too high a price for one with so much yellowing.

yeah, i emailed the guy, hopefully he hits me back.. i def want to keep him.. i didnt realize yellowing does that much to the value. i only have newer stuff since i just started collecting in august, so i dont know much about older toys and their conditions.

yeah, a bit much for a yellowed one.

if u can return it, go for it. while overlord is expensive, he's not that hard to find despite rarity because he's always in demand.

    Ebay:
I think you can look at it like this.....
$360 shipped is about the price of a loose but complete overlord in good cond.
i've seen a box go for almost $200 on its own.

so you can see it as a bargain non mint toy with a good box or simply an incomplete piece overall with a good starting price point.

while i paid $450 MIB a couple of months ago (untouched, only not classified sealed because tape adhesive wore off but ever removed from box)

so if you replace the rear of the jet (a common piece on ebay above any other overlord part) you can still pull off a wicked overlord for $400 which is a great deal because yes one greedy seller has had one on ebay for a long time for $900 in the same cond. as mine.

i think you'll feel better after the replacement . good luck mate. he's one of my favorites and hands down the most awesome base IMO

Based on the picture you just posted, it appears to have both the japanese style colors and the UK ones. Check out the difference in color between the main gun and double barrell cannon and compare it to the other weapons. I would for sure try and get a refund for the yellowing, but also see if the seller has some extra parts for you. Good luck.

The fist time a guy renegotiates successfully and gets some cash back will be the first as far as I know.
Anyway that is a sweet piece congrats. I think that is an awesome bot to add to any collection.

    Update on my Overlord purchase...

got in contact with the guy, and after some haggle-ing, i got $50 bucks back! not bad.. I ended up buying a loose overlord on the boards to help to replace the yellowing one..

so overall.. i've spent $430 on two overlords. One is complete w/ foam and box (thats gonna stay in the box)... and the other is loose (yellowing) that i'm going to put on display with all my other TF's.

Ya know, you can use some of that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the yellowing. I did that with a yellowed Jetfire and it turned out great!

That only works if the yellowing comes from, say, cigarette smoke residue. Light-based yellowing causes a chemical reaction to occur with the plastic, which a magic eraser can't undo. It's almost akin to saying you could undo rusted metal with a magic eraser (spoiler: it doesn't work).

I don't think I'd pay that much for a yellowed Overlord..but that's just me. As long you are happy with your purchase you should keep it.
