    My First Coloring - Finished

I found this pic on Google of a early Drift design. Line art credit goes to Guido Guidi!!! (amazing artist)

I did my own color pallet to create a new character... I still don't know what to call him, so suggestions would be great!

I still need to do some fixing to the lighting and shadows. I'm not to savvy on digital coloring, so any tips would be great as well. Especially with the ground shadow.

I don't know... That looks very much like Deadlock. Almost exact.

But it's pretty good for a first coloring. Good job. :)

I believe the original artist was Guido Guidi Link

if this is your first colour job I have to say its very good it reminds me of my early stuff.

    Pro's

. You've got the light source down +1 thats something I really like to see in peoples work.
. good layout of colour its not too complex and theirs a logic to the choices you've made.

    Con's

. the back ground. it kinda looks out of place with a clear sky and flat floor. Also theirs no shadow. If you dont want to do anything more complex try cutting down on the empty space around him.
. Maybe get rid of that lens flair and try doing multiple layers of shadow and highlights. I do 2 layers of shadow and 3 of highlights
. if you want the effect that he's standing in the sun maybe try adding a yellow tint to the areas in the sun and a blue tint to the shadows. This is rather easy just make a layer for each tint and set it to Overlay and just change the opacity if its too much

Yeah I had planned on doing a shadow, but I'm not sure how to do it and make it look realistic to the outline.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

nothing is wrong with just a blob on the floor. given how harsh the lighting is just a hint of shadow would do the trick

    UPDATE:

    -added more shadowing to robot
    -added ground shadow
-added background features to get rid of flat ground
-added clouds to break up solid sky

To me it kind of looks like he's floating above the ground a bit. What can I do to eliminate that?

Also, I'm still looking for a name.

    UPDATE:

    - I added grass to give the ground definition
    - made the grass come over the feet for realism
    - made slight changes to the head
    - did some different shading
