Yeah, it is something quite pain full to lose a pet. My previous dog, of over 15 years, had to be put to sleep because she had grown to decrepid to walk more than a block, and her walks used to be about three. It was done about 10 days before my family left for it's annual trip to California. That was about 7 months ago.
I got a mini dachshund too, and he's getting on in years as well (he's 10 1/2). Sorry to hear about that man.
