I know this isn't comic art, but
here is a example of the kind of work I do at my day job.

The client wanted a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd
    drawn up for their logo.

I matched their requested font, but I am not happy with the way
    it looks with the illustration.

But the client get what they want right?

This Illustration was created 100% using Adobe illustrator
with photo references as a under layer.

Nice stuff, I agree about the font, but I've been in that situation before too. :)

Same here. Happens every day at my job. It's an excellent illustration though.

No actually I am a Graphic Designer by trade. I do advertising layouts.
At my company I am one of the few designers that is also an illustrator,
so I occaionally have to come up with illustrations for customers to use
in their advertising. And in this case for their logo.

Oh Trust me Graphic Design is not my first choice.
when I was in Art School all I wanted to do was be a comic book artist,
then i can to the reliazation that I needed to know all areas of the field.
So I specialized in Visual Communications.

I have done my time doing web graphics at Microsoft, I have done time
creating art for educational software, but i have mainly be a advertising
designer for the past 11+ years.

I have been lucky to get a few freelance gigs doing illustrations here and there
for a few small gaming companies, and even been published by Simon and Schuster
after on of my design ideas won a contest they had going.

Hopefully one day I will be illustrating a comic book or two.

Who knows. Until then the bills need to get paid right?
