Now, i'm not a customizer at all. But in my opinion, the new RiD voyager Megatron really needed some help. I had some gray and silver paint and thought i'd try fixing him up some. This is my first time really ever trying to paint anything. I only had the gray and silver cause i tried painting hubcaps on an Optimus Prime of mine. I'd be curious what you guys think...

Now everyone knows what he looks like...

I started first with his hands and his knee pads

After that i moved on to his feet and inner forearms

Then i painted his outer thighs gray, with a small section on the outside in silver. Also i painted the outer forearms silver as well as the inner portion of his chest. The outer portion i painted gray. I also highlighted his crotch area in silver and gray.

Then finally, i did a little paint mixing with the silver and gray and painted the outer portion of his helmet. Then painted his fusion cannon gray. I'm thinking i'm going to add some silver highlights to the cannon itself...the gray just seems too plain right now.

But that's him right now. I'm curious what you guys think....be kind, this is my first time :p

Well for something like this, a brush is probably better because from the looks of this anyway, you're wanting to retain the brushed & worked look from the show/toy, rather than doing a pristine paint job that a carformer would have.

Either way, I think it looks great. :)

yeah, in the show at least, you can really see a brushed look on the metal on Megatrons body. I loved that they actually molded that into the toy and i wanted to make sure that stayed visible.

A BIG Improvement on it's original colors. The only other part I would paint is the bottom of the Translucant Purple to make his Abdomen seem more solid.

Fair enough . I only ask as u will get a smoother finish with spray paints. I put a bit of masking tape around the areas that u dont want to paint or unscrew panels and spray the whole pieces without getting the rest mistakenly painted.

Ive painted parts of my figures like this and I never do customs and i found it farely easy. But as u said I does make it look more worn and show accurate

    Excellent work!

I might do something like this in the future, but first I need to experiment on a few Bumblebee's. They will be my test subjects. lol
