If talking about defensor, he is the fewlest appeared autobot combiner in G1 season 1 and 2 , I can only remember him in a little episodes. Even he has crashed Bruticus once in the episode B.O.T, but since Bruticus also has been totally defeated by Menasor's attack from behind, so I think defensor's quick victory can not prove he is much more powerfull than Bruticus since Bruticus is so weak when facing sneak attack. Compare to Superion and Omega Supreme, defensor don't have many outstanding performance in the episodes. So, to be honest I don't have very deep impression for him in the G1 cartoon episodes. But for toy, it is another story: my first time experience a member of G1 combiner is the G1 Hotspot, which is my little brothers toy ( at that time I am only 12 years old ). When I saw the defensor's head under the Hotspot's ladder, I knew this guy is belong to some really big guy...

So this time, let me present my latest customized transformer: the classic defensor!

OK, lets begin from the individual team members and than their combiner format: defensor!

    Firstly, Hotspot

The original robot is Cybertron Mudflap
Because: his color is close to G1 Hotspot, his vehicle mode is same as Hotspot, and most importantly, his size is same as classic Optimus Prime.

    Majority change:
Change the head, repaint the body, replace the lifting arm to ladder.

Fight with Onslaught, see the ladder's advantage? Long range attack!

If compare to size.... Onslaught is much bigger....

But is very good for me that Hotspot is not taller then OP
    [IMG]

Check the vehicle mode, I like it, very G1 feeling :)

Ladder can rescue people who stranded in the fired building.

    Then the Groove

For this Groove I used the Animated Prowl, I changed his head to more classic style. Repaint the color. Animated Prowl is a fantastic toy for a motor cycle!

Even change the head, he still is a Ninjutsu warrior!

    Check the vehicle mode
    [IMG]

    So cool motor cycle!

Let's invite classic Mirage to try it out.

    Seems a little bit small...

This picture let me recalls the Beast wars Rattrap and Predacon Dinobot
    [IMG]

But when he turns back to robot mode, his size is not small any more.

    Now is Streetwise

I used the latest Drift as Streetwise!

    Does he looks like Streetwise?
Actually I just want a white Police car, but I don't want to use the classic Prowl since he has been used too much.

I only added a Police lights and replace the Japanes character to Autobot symbol.

Is this fate that two Ninja warriors working in the same team now?

    The vehicle mode
    [IMG]

    First Aid

    I used the Energon Tow-Line
Major work: Repaint and add the face mask for him

    The vehicle mode
    [IMG]

    Last one is: Blades

I used the himself, Nothing changed for him, I planed more G1 feeling repaint, but finally I think the original paint is good enough so I cancelled.

    The vehicle mode
    [IMG]

Now, the team is get together, they are Protectobot!

The first mission: repair the ultimate autobot warrior: Fortress Maximus!

    Protectobot, go!

    Now let's combined to: Defensor!

Compare the size to the classic Optimus Prime
    [IMG]

    Handsomed big guy.

    Compare to my classic Superion
    [IMG]

    The "big three"!

    With leaders.

When you see Fortress Maximus you know you are not the biggest guy in the world :)

Finally, show some pose with Superion.

I hope my next one is the classic Bruticus!

Thanks for watching, any comments is welcome!

Defensor is looking really good! Excellent choice on Drift for Streetwise - aside from Prowl being overused like you said, Drift is a Japanese sports car just like Streetwise was. Well done!

while some of the painting is a bit rough (white is hard to do anyways), I love the idea. Great job on the choices and getting them together like that. Its going to be an interesting event to see what you do for bruticus.

Awesome. Personally I would have repainted the figures even if I didn't think they needed it.But that's just me.

Awesome custom. But loose the red lines and the swords on Drift, and give him a gun. He would be perfect then.

The choice of figures is really good. I question the animated motorcycle, but I know quite a few people struggle with the choice of motorcycle.

The white is rough, but white is very tough to do as people have mentioned.

Great job with that G1 inferno ladder, and great combined mode engineering.

Yes, we don't have much choice of the motorcycle, the reason why I choose the animated Prowl is I think currently this toy is the best motorcycle transformer. His balance between robot mode and vehicle mode is almost prefect, that's something I never see before. And another reason is he is very easy to get with very low price, I also should consider my buget with every customization :p

Combined mode is pretty neat. Thanks for not naming it "Masterpiece Defensor", that's so overused :p

Pretty slick custom, overall. The painting could use some cleaning up, a few more coats of white, and I don't really like the random screw threads and nuts sticking out from the figures themselves, but I suppose seeing as how that is how they combine, you'd have to re-engineer the entirety of the lot to fix that eye sore.

I also used the same ladder for my custom Headmaster Hosehead. :)  WIN

The more I look at it, the more I like it! :)

This makes me regret ripping up my Mudflap for my Perceptor.....

So.... Do you have a plan for your Bruticus? :)

    nice work.
the white paint needs some work though, especially on groove.
i didnt like the "prongs" sticking out from blades, and hotspot. Maybe you can think of another way of attaching them more cleanly, if possible (for your next project).
the thighs are not quite proportioned. it needs more beef to it.
these are just constructive criticisms, so i hope you can learn from this project and apply new things on the next one you may be planning on.

good choice on drift. nice work overall.

For sure I know my work is not good enough to call: Masterpiece; and also classic is my favourite series so I would like to count my defensor in classic series :)

I will provide the version 2.0 of my defensor later, and I will remove the screws that time and improve my painting, thanks for the comments man, cheers!

Thanks! Your perceptor is also a very good idea and design :)

So far my plan for Bruticus members are:
    Onslaught---------Classic Onslaught
    Blast Off ----------Classic Astrotrain
    Vortex ------------Movie 2 Grindor (Blackout)
    Brawl ------------Classic Deluxe Megatron
Swindle -----------Classic Hound ( May be changed later, not for sure now)

Thanks for the comments, I will think about your suggestions seriously, thanks!
