    Yakuza 4.

Simply stunning story and narrative that not only shone beyond anything else this year in regards to story telling but also managed to make a world where its people are more compelling and interesting than I could have ever expected. It all built up to one of the best climaxes ever and the payoff was extremely fulfilling.

Also I love me some Japanese open world, do you spend your extra yen in a Hostess Bar or doing a little Karaoke. There is no bad choice.

How about you? Does anyone else have their GOTY pick ready?

    Batman: Arkham City.

I bought it on PC, and it's visually THE most stunning game I've ever seen in my life, and lives up to every review that calls it the Crysis killer in terms of the ultimate benchmark for your PC. It makes Uncharted 3 even look like horse shit.

(Note: If you have it on console, then you won't agree with this, because the console versions also look like dog shit in comparison).

The story mode is terrific, and the open world is so beyond deep, that it deserves a reward in and of itself.

Just an amazing game on all levels.

Rayman Origins. I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a long time. It's extremely addictive!

i will have to try yakuza now.

i can't really pick out anything outstanding for me this year, nearly everything good was a sequel or update, but Batman Arkham City was the best in that regard for me, no other games had the same level of polish or detail as that (that i played).

Skyrim, from what i've played so far, absolutely fabulous game. Also enjoying Rayman Origins, hands-down the prettiest game i've played this year

    Skyrim, no question.

Very close inFamous 2, but not really that close.

That's it. I said if I heard about this game one more time, I was going to buy it. I'm going to try and find a copy on Amazon.

I kind agree with TJ on Arkham City.
    It was crazy good.

But, I played Super Street Fighter IV almost every single day this year so that's my GOTY.

In that case, don't you mean Game of the Century?

I've been replaying Uncharted 3 and Arkham City. I've hailed Uncharted 3 as the greatest game over ever played. And it very well might be. Graphically, it is superior, and the narrative is just as strong. But right now, I've gotta say Arkham City. The voice acting is strong, and it's Batman. I'll flip flop between the two, but as of now, Arkham.

If it wasn't for Skyrim, I would have a hard time choosing this year, as so many good games came out. Skyrim is my definite choice for a personal Game of the Year, but many came pretty close- Namely Portal 2 (I don't know why, but I keep thinking this game was released in 2010.), Batman: Arkham City, Forza Motorsport 4, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Timewise I would have to say mvc3/umvc3.

Overall experience-wise though arkham city is it i think. It took the incredible AA and improved on nearly everything (with the exception of adding in more joker dialogue).

Its been a really good year for gaming in general though i think this year.

I NEED to get Arkham City and I'll be damned if I am not getting interested in Skyrim.

Of those I have bought this year, I really, really liked Infamous 2, Uncharted 3 and Assassin's Creed Revelations, but I don't feel they deserve GOTY. They all had something lacking to make me go OMFG, even though they did have their notable moments.

Here's hoping to a Arkham City boxing day sale!

But until then, I am playing Vanquish. Because Platinum Games = sex

sadly it was out 2010, I agree but I got it for x mas last year :D

nothing fighting game wise really wow'd me this year, and I haven't played uncharted 3, arkham or skyrim (might be getting for xmas), so I'll just say ocarina 3ds for now. they did a outstanding job remastering that game from the ground up for 3ds and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
