well, my ride just advised me to find another way to botcon, and now my hotel room with the group is in question, neither of the room holders has responded to messages, so i have no idea.

i may have to Bus myself down and back, but now i either have to find a place to sleep, or find 3 or 4 other ppl to share a room if i can have the room transfered to my room.

i feel like crap now, i may need to cancel the whole darn thing....

I'm actually in the process of putting together plans to go. I gotta see if I can get off work that week and a half, check rental car prices, and see if I can find a cheaper hotel a little further away. Not much I can do about the ride, but I would be willing to share a room and costs. I'll let you know when I find out for sure.

well, i faxed in my ATTENDING package. i've checked car rentals, and it's very doable, but it's a 16 hour drive, and i really wish i had a co-pilot. i've got a spot on the floor in O S's room. if i do need to drive alone, i mat just ghave to sleep in the car and shower elsewhere. hehe

What ARE the laws about overnight parking, and sleeping in your car? I"ve learned from various US folk singers that not every state allows it.

True. Apparently Wal-Marts will let you do that. Heck, I've seen trailers sit in Wal-Mart parking lots for MONTHS. So chances are you'll be able to snag a few hours sleep there.

16 hour drive? That is seriously rough. And here I thought SW.CA and I had it rough when we drove 11 hours from Toronto to Lexington back in September. God's speed my friend, you're going to need it.

if you go to a rest stop you won't get bothered but if you plan to sleep in the car for the whole convention you might start smelling notto mention eventually you'll have to poop. I'm going with my wife and I'm doing the motel thing probebly 20 miles away or so. I just don't want to be in a rural area because I won't be able to sleep with a pre rape feeling

Yeah, we're going to be driving from Halifax to Toronto straight for Transformercon. About 18 hours.

16 hours aint bad, I'm driving solo from North Iowa to RI. That's over 30 hrs. I'd like a co-pilot, but the only two guys I know who may be going in my area one is iffy and the othe is flying. :(

I just sent in my reg fax today and am waiting to hear back. I'm in Minneapolis and have a 22 hour drive according to Google Maps. My car gets 55 mpg on the highway, so it's cheaper than flying.

I was thinking the same thing... Especially considering that gas will probably be $4/gal come Botcon time.... I'm fearing the gas cost when we drive up....

I don't think we have to worry about $3.00 gas yet. If we did, there would be more problems going on around us than the cost of attending a toy show. And, it doesn't really matter between driving and flying since they both use fuel that has become more expensive thse days.

No offense, but you mean the $3 gas that we're back to already? if you meant $4 gas, then I somewhat agree. I'm budgeting on $3.50 a gallon for this trip...if that doesn't end up being overkill, something is majorly wrong.

Don't feel too bad, wheeljaxx... I wound up canceling going to BotCon after I got into a little car accident back in February. That, and I just wasn't going to be able to come up with all the $$$ needed to go, so...
