My dog Molly was bought in October of 1999. She was born however September 9th, 1999. She has since been a friend, a family member, and even a guardian, saving my brother from a rottweiler just two years ago. Today, at 11:09 she was put to sleep after years of struggling with arthiritis. She was just a few weeks away from turning 11. She was always my best friend, and her loss has already affected my family. It's for the best that she was put to sleep. Her disease had gotten so bad that the poor girl couldn't even walk. We tried pain pills, which if proved successful, could extend her life about another year. They didn't however, and we decided that it was best just to end all of her pain. My best friend since I was 5 is gone....I'm sorry...I can't really get over this. I am already tearing up again as I write this. I hope some of you keep her in your thoughts for at least today. Here are some pictures of Molly to give you a glimpse of how beautiful and sweet she really was. This is me, Molly, and my little brother. This is one of my absolute favorite pictures. Period. This is Molly when she was about 8, laying with our second Golden. This is another one of my favorites. Just all three of our dogs, in peace. This is the last picture taken of Molly before she died. It was taken about an hour before. She died at 11:09 AM May she always rest in peace. Molly, September 9th, 1999 - July 21st, 2010
I'm sorry to hear that. I know how you must feel. Last month I've lost my 14 year old cat. t is sad and losing a pet is never easy.
Sorry for your loss man, I fear the day I have to do the same with my dog. She is family and i know it will kill me inside. My condolences.
Sorry to hear about that. It's always tough putting up with the loss of a beloved pet that you've had for so long.

I'm truely sorry to hear about Molly. I still remember when I lost my childhood dog Bandit. He suffered from Lukemia and while he was at the vet one day in the yard with the other dogs, curled up on the ground and passed away. To this day it still bothers me that he had to die alone at the vet and not surrounded by the family that loved him and rescued him from the crappy home he was born into. You and Molly will be in my thoughts
So sorry to hear this. I know it can be hard losing a loved one. I've experienced it too. Just think back on all the good times you all had....that'll make it a little easier. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
Ok sorry, I'm literally crying a bit right now..some people will never understand the love and loyalty a dog can have for a person, but I do. Sorry for your loss..I know arthiritis is a common problem with many dogs nowadays, especially in popular, heavier breeds like Golden Retrievers and Labradors. My dog, turning 9 in 2 days, is suffering from it as well, but luckily, she is a smaller and lighter type, so with pills we are able to keep her painless and running. That first picture of you, your brother and the dog is terribly cute..definitely worth treasuring it. I hope you can find some solace with the other dogs, but as much as with a human friend, it hurts alot Hang in there!
So sorry. What has helped me, my mom, and countless friends is to have your pet cremated then put into a box that you can keep. I know it sounds a little morbid but it really does make you feel like they are still part of the family and their presence is still there. We have a local vet who does it. They let you choose nice boxes with metal name plates engraved with your pet's name. It's very tastefully done and is affordable.
We did this too... we got a little porcelain jack russell figurine as well who stands guard over Harry's ashes. Hope you're OK dude.
I'm so sorry. My family and I are still grieving for the loss of our five year old Calico, so I feel your pain and loss.
Im really sorry for your loss Dogs is the most amazing animal out there.. If you give them your love they will return it to you..
so sorry about your loss, thoughts are with you, some people dont understand just what a pet can mean.
i lost a very dear "family" member long ago. he was a german shepherd who not only took my near abusive rough-housing with glee, but was ferociously defensive when needed. He never left me alone for a moment when i was outside at play. because of my age and his age, i didn't get to spend much time with him. so i know the loss you speak of. My family has over the years, adopted new family members; i just don't like getting too attached. the last dog i considered a member of my family was owned by my best friend's mom. I seemed to be the only person she allowed to touch her at times when she snapped at others. when she was put down in 2007, i cried for her. just telling you this to let ya know you aren't alone and i am truly sorry for your loss. peace.
Oh, damn. I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. We had to put our golden retriever down last summer. Since then, we now have a golden retriever puppy that we got back in early Februrary (oddly enough the same day I went to the Philly Auto Show), but we still haven't forgotten our first golden...
