TFW2005 posts are not meant as medical advice, should you have a pain, ache or bleeding ulcer, don't ask faceless Transformer's fans what to do about it:

It's a bad case of Transformers Elbow. You need to keep your feet shoulder-width apart and your head down when converting your toys.

Seriously though, I guess it depends on what you've been doing recently.

You're both partly right, which means you're both entirely wrong.

It's botfly, which can feel like a two-week long cancerous heart attack. As a medical doctor of medicine, I spent a long time double checking my facts on the Wikipedia, and this is exactly what it is.

I'll second Lance's diagnosis. Get ready for a slow and painful death.

THIS IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A REAL EXAM. But I'll give it a go online.

Which arm? And what hand are you?

Worse with movement? Worse with weight-bearing (holding anything heavy)? Or just painful no matter what?

Does the pain come and go, or is it constant?

Were you doing anything physical lately that involves the elbow?

Are there any points on the elbow that are particularly tender or is the pain deeper than that, with no superficial tenderness?

Pain anywhere else--specifically, wrist or shoulder of the either arm?

And finally, I'll be real with you. Something like this, in an otherwise healthy younger man, it's probably a strain or a sprain. MAYBE tennis / golf elbow, in which case, you're gonna be sore for 3 to 6 months and then it'll get better. But in the meantime?

Best bet is to rest it. Seriously, really, really rest it. Put heat packs on it before you do anything with it, cold packs afterwards. If you're not doing anything in particular, heat in the morning, cold at night. Take some over the counter NSAIDs, like Motrin or Aleve. It kinda doesn't matter, whichever you prefer. Stretch the arm out also. That's a little hard to do with an elbow, but do it as much as possible.

And yeah. If it doesn't start getting better at all in a week or so, or if it gets worse at any point, it's time to visit the doctor. If I were you, I'd schedule an appointment now for 7 to 10 days out. You can always cancel it, but if you need it, it'll be waiting for you.
