Seriously, Primal was cool, I wasn't a huge fan of his transmetal form but Optimal Optimus and Pre TM Primal are some of the cooler designs out there. Plus, as a gorilla, he's useful in both modes.

I think they picked a great alt mode for Primal. Gorilla is not an aggresive animal per se, it's not a predator, but a male silverback gorilla is liable to break your spine with a punch. It isn't nice seeing a 200kg muscle bound mass running at you with arms 2/3 of it's body length long.

Whaaa???? If handled properly the bat could have been a million times cooler than the ape.

I also have to give in too. A good friend lent me his BW DVDs. I kept on bitching and scream how horrible it was during Season one. He kept saying, "Stay with it, it gets better." Sure enough, it does live up to it's reputation. I'll eat my hat now.

I warmed up to this series well before the DVD and even VHS releases. A coworker of mine explained the connection to G1. I borrowed his taped episodes and I've been on board ever since! I just loved the appearance of Optimus Prime in all his digital glory!!!!

After being subjected to the recent animated shows there is very little wrong with the BW show. I actually saw the BW show after Armada, Energon ect and of was a breath of fresh air.

Given the only Bat toys we got out of the Beast Wars/Machines world were Bat Primal, Sonar, and Nightscream, I have sincere doubts about that claim. :)

I have to admit that i don't like the toys, and not b/c they are bad or poorly made just never thought of transformers as animals, but the cartoon and story are very well done. I just picked up the 3 box sets and the Beast Machines box set and plan on doing a all day marathon sometime when the kid will let me.

There was a quiet little show called Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future that flies in the face of that statement

Seriously, go look it up and thank me later.

Right, that one didn't exist just to sell toys. You had to watch it to make the toys WORK.

They made a live-action version in the nineties, too. It also worked with the toys, but nobody I knew had them, and they weren't in stores any more. GIANT WASTE OF TIME.

The live action version was made in 1987 (twenty year anniversary!), with three animated training tapes made to help spur on sales of the toys. Overall, the toys and series did very well despite a 4 am time slot. To this day, no one knows why it got cancelled.

edit: oh yeah, back on topic: beast wars r0x0red my little s0x0rz when I saw it. I've much higher expectations for cartoons due to the mainframe animated shows of the day.

I too was a Beast Wars hater.

Circa 1996or 97 when it first aired and I saw the toys I said WTH?!

Years later when RID got me back into TF's I rewatched the BW DVDs.

I WAS AN IDIOT! Man what a great show. I have rewatched it several times. It makes it hard to watch pretty much all of the other Transformer shows though.

Dude, I was the same. Only got into it in hindsight. But it is a fantastic show. The Agenda, Guerilla Warfare and Nemesis being particular highlights. :)

BW takes the TF franchise firmly out of Saturday morning kiddy fun and into the realm of sci-fi.

    Glad you enjoyed.
