So I tried the dye technique after it worked so well on my Alt Wild Ride. For this one, I used Grimlock straight up. No remolding at all was needed. The head was perfect and the only other body icould think of for him was Skids. But Skids is turning into someone else next weekend so Mustang Soundwave it is.

The color didn't quite turn out as expected. I used RIT Navy. It's not navy. Instead, it's like a metallicy rusted porple. However I kept his head, feet, and waist blue. So here he is along with his buddies Ravage and Runble. Frenzy is in the works.

Yea, I may have to break down and paint it. I just really really don't want to. I really like the color.

I guess I could paint the head and torso black and call him Soundblaster.

painting the car parts won't cause you any problems. Just brush on somefuture floor finish (dirt cheap at walmart with the dusting sprays and such) its tough as nails, and it'll look like the car is waxed to boot. I did that to my Alt Motormaster, TF'd it 4 times and didn't have any problems at all.

Yea, if I can find another Grimlock body, I'm going to paint it Blue for Soundwave. I have another idea for this body.

You might get some bleeding of dye through what ever paint you use. It has happened every time I painted over dye. (I use Tamya Acrylic, mostly) It just means you have to put more coats on. Good luck.
