    Alternators Bumblebee

    Started back in 2010 also.

    Simple custom from Alt. Ricochet.

    Fully transformable.

Head swap with Alt. Smokescreen, as I prefer the shape of the helmet.
As a nod to the movie-verse, I sanded out the mouth, making him a mute. Whether you are a fan of the movies or not, I like the idea that BB couldn't speak, and had to communicate through his radio. I think it makes him a much more endearing character. Also referenced in Transformers Prime, interestingly enough.
Uncomplicated re-paint, just touched up the black, and painted the front doors, hood/bonnet, roof and the boot/trunk top yellow. I took inspiration from the "Need for Speed" computer game.
I repainted his upper legs black, and highlighted with Codex grey for definition.
Vehicle mode is flat colour; robot mode is more detailed, with drybrushing and ink washes.

Games Workshop Sunburst Yellow used, along with yellow and sepia inks.

Alt. BB has been made several times, and each version has something interesting and different. I really just wanted the simplest paint scheme that combined yellow and black. The aesthetic works for me here, I would say it is effective.

    Constructive C and C welcome.

    Vehicle gallery pending.

Nice! Did you airbrush that? Smooth paintjob.

    Hey, thanks for your message.

Not airbrush, just a normal paintbrush. Games Workshop paint is perfect for these kind of customs.

Thanks for your message-no pics of the alt. mode yet. I'm experimenting with different clear-coats and varnishes until I'm happy to put them on my customs.

    Shouldn't be too long though!

I like it and all, but you should of changed his head. Just not BB with that head.

    Best Regards,

Thanks for your message Op Dime.

I am a G1 fan mostly, but I do like some of the ideas from the movie-verse as well.
I think that this head combines elements of both in a simple way. Making a custom too complicated tends to ruin it-certainly in my builds anyway.

I am open to ideas though-what kind of head do you think would work better?

The paint looks killer. Very smooth and even. I personally don't care for the head to call this Bumblebee. Just my 2 cents.

Classics BB Head would work well on that body. Same with Animated. I love everything else about it, the coloring is awesome. Just some reason (maybe it is just me) the head doesn't fit in well with that color scheme.

    Best Regards,

Interesting-I hadn't thought of trying a Classics head. I may well give it a try.

I do think that that the toon style of Animated might conflict with the Alternator aspect, I would be less likely to try this.

Thanks for your thoughts-constructive comments are always welcome.

    Thanks to you too, Cheetor.

You could always try a Bot Shots Bumblebee head.

I'd like to see some alt mode photos, as this looks like really nice work :)

Thanks for your idea Superquad, I will take a look.

Thanks for your comments too, I always thought your team of Alt. Seekers set the bar high for Alt. Customs.

    Alt. mode pictures soon!
