Devastator has always been one of my favorite Transformers and after seeing the incredible work by Ptitvite & Frenzy_Rumble along with everyone else here, I was inspired to try this kitbash thing myself. I am now absolutely addicted to kitbashing!!!

Here are some work in progress pics of my version of Devastator. It's about 99% done. I just got a great Devastator head from Sculpt-Bot that I've just completed painting. Once the new head is dry, I'll take some new pics along with individual con pics.

I wanted to go with a more realistic green so i chose an olive green color. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and so is my brother. This Dev was made for him, going to start on mine next = )

Love the colors, looks really good.
One thing I would suggest is the part of kibble I added just above long haul and below hook. it filled in that hollowish looking area.

are you brave enough to hollow out the head for the eyes? it will make him jump to life.

edit: now that i look at it, looks like an original SSS head? you can get that to light up no problem.

I am guessing the head SB sent you was the cartoon style? I'm getting a lot of requests for that one. it's amazing looking.

 

Thanks for the critique Frenzy_Rumble. To be honest, I really studied the Devastator you built and couldn't really figure out what you used to fill that kibble above long haul and below hook. Was it custom made from styrene? I'm working on my 2nd Devastator now and this is something I'm looking into.

And yes, I am attempting to hollow out the head for the light up eyes as well. Any advice?

yes it is the SSS head. The new one I got from Sculpt-Bot is the cartoon Dev head, he's got a visor so making that light up might be some work.

I'll probably hold onto this SSS head for a different bash.

 

This is impressive for any bash, better yet a first bash/repaint. You should be proud, bro.

I got the chest plate from a Devastator bust that I got on clearance from BBTS. I bought like five of them. I was hoping to use the head from the bust as well but it's too big so I'll go with the head I got from Sculpt-Bot.

I was looking at your WIP section and noticed that you added some LEGO strips and it looked like you modded something from the LEGO to the Primus piece? What was it?

yeah, just noticed your choice for Mixmaster...those things were a pain in the ass trying to find on ebay. best bet was ebay.co.uk (UK's) and then pay out the ass for shipping.

 

Hell yeah they were a pain in the ass!! I wasted so much money on ebay buying up trucks that just weren't the right scale. Finally scored at Target with some new Tonka trucks they've started carrying.

Still couldn't find a flat nose truck front though so I had to go with Energon Barricade's
