Ok, so as a child of the G1 era....and a recent BW convert....my question is simple: What OTHER TF series are a "must see?" I everyone has fantastic input on this board, so I welcome all the little tidbits of why/why not for their choices. Thanks in advance. ps, yes, I'm looking to fill in huge chunks of time during my downtime in the evening. lol
Beast Machines if you go into it with an open mind. If you start watching it with the mindset that it sucks you're pretty much setting it up to fail. Robots in Disguise is kinda like G1 in that it's goofy but without being as... dumb, I guess, as G1. It's lighthearted and fun to watch (again, you kinda have to let yourself enjoy it for what it is). Then after that Animated. Lot of fun, great characters, good story (if not a truncated end), it's probably up there with Beast Wars for me.
I'd recommend Animated, because I feel it's different. (Inexperienced Prime, Complete Autobot victory and Decepticons mostly in hiding, 3 face Blitzwing, I recommend it.) I know Animated is not for a lot of people, but I'd say at least watch the first 3 episodes, the Transform and Roll Out 3 parter.
Got to agree with him. Beast Machines is not that bad, it's pretty different. I give it credit for giving us the most successful Megatron to date.
Watch Robots In Disguise. It's a good, Saturday morning style cartoon that is easy and fun to watch or have on in the background while doin' stuff.
I just finished Armada most developed starscream I've seen. Started Energon over the weekend it starts off kind of bad but gets better. I watched all of Animated cant say I really enjoyed it but, you may very well. Prime just finished and was real good. Ohh and all these are on youtube.
Prime and Animated are both series I consider "must see" for a Transformers fan. And RID is also good, though the characters announcing their attacks gets a little wierd. That it for features some interesting combiners who go beyond the whole Scramble City mold is also in its favor. I'm not personally a fan of Beast Machines, but it does have a certain charm to it. It also scores points for managing to keep one of the darkest moods for a series we've ever gotten.
I'm assuming you already saw Beast Machines along with BW. The one absolute must-see in addition to those is Animated. Yes, the art style is initially off-putting in the extreme. But it will grow on you because the characterizations and stories (as they go on) are so, so strong. And if you're open to watching the Japanese shows, I'd recommend Masterforce. It has its ups and downs, but overall it's a fun watch.
