I have a bunch so I figure there are others out there that can not hear a certain song or album without thinking of someone, someplace or something from their past.

Like I said I have tons but the two biggest are the songs I remember from when I was driving back to the hospital to bring home my kids when they were first born. I can't hear these songs without thinking of those days so they have basically become the theme songs for my kids.

For my daughter it is "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John
For my son it is "Soul Meets Body" by Death Cab For Cutie.

Either one of these songs almost brings a happy tear to my eye. :)

"Raining Blood" by Slayer reminds me of the concussion I got in the mosh pit during that song. I remember thinking I should walk to the first aid table but, since I knew I could still walk, I didn't need first aid. Besides, I didn't want to miss "Seasons in the Abyss."

    Good thread!

You are aware that he wrote that song about his "Tiny Dancer".

    Correct?

I always think of being really young and riding around with my Mom as she took care of political stuff when I hear the following songs:

"Walking on Broken Glass" by Annie Lennox
Anything by Jackson Browne, especially "Witchy Woman"
    "Piano Man" by Billy Joel

Elton John didn't write the lyrics for that, Bernie Taupin did as he did for most of Elton's songs.

    Sublime's "In The Summertime."

Harry Chapin's "Cats In The Cradle."

Charlie Daniel's "Oh, Atlanta," as covered by Allison Krauss

    Garth Brook's "Callin' Baton Rouge."

And embarassingly, Nelly's "Ride Wit Me." Not a song I love or anything, just happened to be playing at a certain time, and now it's linked but good.

EDIT: That's just offhand. It's a trip when you hear a song that you've haven't heard or even thought of in a while and an unexpected memory comes back.

"I'll Be Missing You" by P. Diddy & the Family has a tendency to make me cry. Sometimes "Let it Be" (The Beatles) does too. Anything I used to listen to when I washed dishes (my first job) tends to bring back memories...sights, sounds, smells. "We Can Work it Out" (The Beatles) reminds me of an old roommate.

That's all that occurs to me at the moment.

Pretty much anything released or that I was into belatedly from '89-98 is inextricably tied to specific memories to the point of practically being a soundtrack to those events. I can remember when particular albums came out down to about a 2-week period if not even more specific.
After that it gets fuzzy, the years really blurring together with a few exceptions due to being in a very specific place when a particular album was released. But I still tend to gravitate toward much of my music collection based on the time of year I associate with an album's release and subsequent events spent listening to said album(s).

Counting Crows remind me of my ex.

Beatles, The Who, The Hollies, America and Rush remind me of my dad, cause when I was real young I'd stay up all night and he'd play his records and cds and rock me to sleep.
