Lin family murder: Fear grips North Epping community
Their newsagent was right down the road from me, walked past it every day. My brother bought his very first scratchie there. Now it's buried in flowers.

Ok, I know this is a murder thread but come on, that exchange was priceless.

Well, it sounds like fists need to be outlawed, then.

I don't ever sleep in fear, in part because I don't have to rely on a hammer under my pillow to protect me.

Also because you're too awesome a dude to kill.

Still, sad story. When it happens in towns that aren't used to it, it's always a shock. My small town in MN had a murder like that a few years back. Parents wouldn't let their kids go outside for a week or two.

And probably because you're not a teenage girl who's not used to this sort of brutality.

How horrible. :(  It's bad enough that the crime shook the community with the cost of lives, but now people will continue to live in fear a good long while, just to feel somewhat safe in their homes.

No one should have to live like that.

If they find the bastard.... torture's too good for him.

Finding humor in this thread: FAIL.

    Grow up.

A trollish post. Gee...who'd imagine that happening, here? -_-

What the hell is wrong with you two?

Gee, maybe it's because this had nothing to do with them? I appreciate this was a horrible thing, but horrible things happen every day. Unfortunately, Trump and Spoon's little exchange was funny. I don't understand quite what you want here, AnimatedFan. I'm not going to start wailing and gnashing my teeth over something that happened on another continent. I'm very sorry that anyone dies, and I hope Spoon is dealing with it well given it actually affects him. But I'm a little tired of the public weeping and wailing some people do over every single death that gets reported.

I guess some people never get tired of playing the "oh I'm so offended by your comment" card.

Nothing either of them said was remotely offensive.

I imagine very few people do that or anything like it so yeah it's "kind of a big deal"

That's awful. And I hope that entire community can overcome this, and come out stronger because of it.

    This. Best wishes, man.

It might be useful when visiting these boards to forgo any presumption that anything will be taken seriously unless it's something major that directly affects a board member. But something like this... you really shouldn't post an article and expect it to be discussed seriously. This is the internets people.

Oh that's a load of bullshit, and you know it. That, to me, is just an excuse to allow some people (not all!) to show their true colors, and be patted on the back for it, and then followed up with an equally disgusting and evil joke.

Other people on the internet do take things like this seriously, and for good reason, and Sledge's equally bullshit answers are just as useless.

You might use humor to deflect the seriousness SOME of the time, not always. People's deaths shouldn't be one of those times. It's one thing to laugh at a good memory during a funeral or a wake, along with the rest of the friends and family, but to read that people were slaughtered and others have to live in fear around the clock, and sleep with a hammer under their pillow just to find some semblance of safety in their own homes...I fail to see any humor in such a thing.

And it's really shitty that anyone could.

So is there a layer of clear enamel over your armour's white paint? Just otherwise it seems it would chip easily.

I don't see what's so damn offensive about Bryan's post.
