I just got it yesterday! And it is so beautiful! Animation/Graphic is smooth, the control is awesome, and it's fun!!!! The production value is very high in this game and there is no slowdowns.

Game of the year for the Wii!
Buy this game over New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Not bad. It looks every bit as nice as Odin Sphere, and the environments are totally drop-dead awesome and dripping with atmosphere.

That said, I think the switch from the wrap round stages of OS to the more traditional "scroll up until a certain point" style of other games like Final Fight is a bit of a mistake. With OS you could never truly scroll an enemy off screen or get caught in a corner, which I see happening a bit in that video.

Don't get me wrong, it looks great. But I just feel this is lacking a lot of the refinements made to the gameplay style from Vanillaware's last title.

Well it's better than most of the 2D games on the Wii especially New Super Mario Bros. Wii which looks cheap.

Just because NSMBwii looks cheap, doesn't mean it plays cheap.

But this is a discussion for a different thread.

it's not my cup of tea. i still have to beat no more heroes, mad world (i know i know, it's only like a 5 hour game), and okami. then i'm looking forward to NSMB, red steel 2 next year, and hopefully (altho unlikely) a good sonic game

edit: hahah just checked yesterday and it seems there's a new 2d sonic game in the works. let's cross our fingers it's good for wii

Started it tonight, and its fun! Those Enemy Lair challenges are a blast. I'm playing it on normal, but i think it might be worth another run through on hard afterwards.

This game just recently caught my Eye. Any final opinions on it? Does it have any RPG elements to it (ie. character-raising, item collecting)?

Yeah, but it's simple. Mostly just XP > level up. You get a metric shit ton of different swords in the game, and you have to level up to use most of them. And you can equip a single accessory, and some of the later ones are cool.

It's a fun game, very fast paced. It does get a bit repetitive, but the bosses make it worthwhile IMO. And after you beat it, previously inaccessible areas unlock and you can get thee tiers of ending for both characters.

Sounds awesome. Does it have an overworld map (ala Suoper Mario World) or is it Linear? I saw a used Copy at GS, so I may get that with my Birthday money. I love Hyper Stylized sidescrollers like Odin's Sphere.

Got all three endings for both characters about two weeks ago, The game provides constant challenge, though sometime unintentionally, the highest level challenge stump is a pain at the end. you'll see why, but the reward you get for beating it makes thing far easier.
