I have a feeling Hasbro directed their emphasis on a certain character in the wrong direction. The first two waves has several Bumblebees, subsequent waves will have the shoulder cannon Bumblebee, so they're kinda overkilling it and he's going to shelf warm to hell and back. Mudflap and Skids are the two in this movie to look out for. Kids will love 'em, some fans have already changed their point of view and now like the little gremlins. (I do as well) Plus they'll be the comic relief for the film, which will endear them with the masses. Skids comes in one wave, Mudflap the other, and they both seem to be the shortpacks. ...we're going to have a hell of a time finding them. I can feel it. I can just feel it.
So far. But the Preview Wave makes Soundwave the shortpack. The Wave 1 Case has even more Bumblebee (from the Preview) in it. And stores are going to stock those left and right to make sure they're cashing in on the movie. Then you throw cannon Bumbles into the mix in the next or third wave, and he should be filling pegs quite nicely.
probably because BB is more well known, and are we sure Skids and Mudflap are even kid appeal characters? if they're like Vangelus saiwith Skids being MC Padington, ya never know
There does seem to be an over-abundance of Bumblebee in the release plans. I must also confess that I am preparing myself to by Mudflap, Skids, and their ice cream truck mode on sight to avoid any later disappointment. I agree with AnimatedFan in that I can see them being hard to come by very quickly.
It wouldn't surprise me if they become hard to find once collectors, kids and kids parents all start tracking them down if the two end up a hit with the little ones. Bumblebee was big in the first film so I think Prime and him will always be the two big guns among movie characters, but yeah Skids and Mudflap could go quite quickly. It wouldn't surprise me either if both end up candidates for the multitude of repaints we'll see down the road.
well it seems to me they always seem to under estimate the demand for one toy in every line, and i do agree Skids and Mudflap could easily be a hot item and hard as Megtron's skidplate to find after a while and im not even gonna think about resale prices on ebay and etc
Bumblebee is the main character of the movie. Kids may find Skids/Mudflap funny, but it's always going to come back to the funny 'bot with the hot alt mode and cute name.
I don't think it's going to be a major issue. I wouldn't even go so far as to call the Bumblebee thing a fiasco. Sure he was hard to find at first, but eventually he was all over the place. People just got impatient for the figure, that's all. I'm sure Mudflap and Skids will be clogging shelves soon enough and we'll all have our opportunity to get them.
This. The persona Vangelus built for him totally sold me on the character. And Mudflap, for his generosity in selling his brain to fund his brother's rap career.
It'll be an odd twist of fate if the shelves are clogged with nothing BUT Bumblebee, and everything else turns out to be a hot, hot seller.
