I have trouble sleeping, so i am up late at night and when Nick at Night or the Girls Gone Wild commercials get old, i watch MTV.

Man, it has to be my age showing because the shows I watch on MTV make me laugh for the wrong reasons.
as in "teens are stupid" laughing.

Busted and Parental Control are the two i watch most.

18 year olds caught with booze yelling at cops, telling the cops "you are on my time, cop", or homeys riding in cars with 8 grand and acting like that is normal...

or when the parents pick for their kid a really cool BF/GF replacement and the dumb punk keeps the current 'friend even as they are picking their nose or treating everyone like crap...teen comdey.

what about MTV's shows make you really laugh out loud or make you think these folks are just silly?

I miss the days of Beavis & Butthead, 120 Minutes, Headbangers Ball, and Buzz Bin videos. Hell, even Spring Break in the late 90s was pretty awesome. These days I don't even look too see whats on MTV.

Though, I did watch all of Celebrity Rehab on VH1 the other day. It was a train wreck I couldn't drag myself away from.

Even though I got digital cable, thank God I don't have MTV.

    Rated M for mediocre.

I just got MTV's Oddities: The Maxx a few weeks ago.
It was great when MTV had a 2-3 hour block of non-music
    *but influenced/inspired by music*
and Unplugged turned me to music I wouldn't have normally liked.

but really, this thread was about how the shows make the kids look stupid (and without trying, lol).
I can't stand Next- it is like Love Connection but worse.

    Ding-ding-ding-ding we have a winner.

MTV has become a celebration on the lowest common denominator. Where beauty is all that matters and intelligence is to be avoided. Not that MTV has ever been a beacon of intellectualism but come on, just try to watch The Hills, I dare you.

MTV programing is about as beep as a kiddie pool.

VH1, is getting if not already is just as bad. Only difference is the dumb-dumbs on MTV are almost never over 25, and VH1's dumb-dumbs can get much older. It's to bad, both channels have had some pretty decant programing in the past.

MTv's still a network?, I abandoned it when they gave up on their animation department and the last of their interesting shows. They forgot what made it fun to watch in the first place.

I agree. I enjoyed watching MTV back in the 80's when they showed nothing but music videos. But when MTV became political in the start of the 90's, I quit watching it except for Beavis & Butthead.

Whats even more sad is they created another branch of the network MTV2 just for music videos a couple of years ago, it started off with pretty much everything music related, then the occasional wild boyz and viva la bam, now if you look at that channel dont hold your breath trying to find a block of just 1 hour of music videos.

I can only watch MTV for maybe 30 seconds before feeling like I'm dropping IQ points. It was so much better when I was a kid. Playing actual music. Unplugged, Beavis and Butthead, actually interesting Spring Breaks, Singled Out, Remote Control, etc.
