So with this news that at least 3 episodes will come with Thanksgiving G1 Prime reissue, I wonder if any boxsets will come. I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything because Joe's 25th is upon us and nothing yet, but hey. Also wonder about those Joe Dvd's that will come packed with the cartoon fig packs.
Anyone know who's putting these out anyway? Is SONY behind them?

For the price, that dvd should contain the first season IMO.

agreed. i can't believe they would put out a disc with only 3 episodes. that must be 1/4 the capacity of a regular dvd... i'll probably get it anyway...

Why give people the entire season for free when you can charge people for it? ;)

As I recall, Hasbro at Botcon said there's no G1 DVD set planned. I assume they haven't been able to find a distributor that suits their purposes.

Sony had the rights because in 1988 Sony Wonder bought out Sunbow Productions. Later Sunbow's properties were sold off to TV Loonland.

From what I remember, after Sony sold them to TV Loonland, the North American rights reverted back to Hasbro.

Thanks. Of course, I'm just jonzing, but it would seem to make sense for them to find a distributor as this would be a profitable venture. The curious thing for me is that dvd's of tf and joe are going to be made and released by hasbro as pack ins. I just wonder which dvd company is putting them together or perhaps it's just hasbro with some in-house dvd production team handling it.

It's probably just a repack of the version that was part of that Costco 2 pack.

Sorry, forgot the ;)  smilie at the end of that sentence. I was joking that if there's a way to make money off people, they'll do it.

Probably Hasbro and some in-house team, or an uncredited outside firm, judging by the lack of credits with recent Hasbro pack-in DVDs.

For free? $70 is more than I paid for any single season of the G1 boxsets.

I know this DVD comes with a Prime reissue, but even TRU only charged $40 for theirs.

    Whaa??
When Transformers The Movie was re-released last, Coscto had "More Than Meets The Eye Season One Pilot Miniseries" (the box says this) bundled with it.
This DVD was released through Sony, same as the movie was.

I just hope it's the "movie" version of MTMTE and not in the three episode format...
