this is my first scratchbuild. i made it using legos and a 1:24 scale 1959 caddy
the left balljoint broke so i made a wire configure-ation. he is actually not that lanky. the pictiure was more than 800x800 so i had to make it smaller. he looks much better in person. new pix of the back are up. enjoy

I'm assuming this is basically along the line of TimShinn73's highly-detailed and poseable action figures. Its a nice start, nice clean cuts and all. My only critique is that the neck seems too long.

I am, of course, a fan of this kind of custom since it's what I like to do myself. I think these kinds of builds can be very challenging to pull off. Taking several completely unrelated elements and using them to create something totally different and make the final product look like it all makes sense is very difficult. It's what makes a build like this so rewarding when completed, at least from my experience so far. Taking all these separate elements and making them look like a working Transformer takes a lot of planning.

The proportions seem a little off. He's kinda lean and tall. I think the arms are a tad too long. Are you planning on using the rest of the model kit (interior, engine, etc)? It might add some bulk to the overall look and help hide some of the lego parts. That may be a little harder to do at this point, since it looks like you've already attached all of the shell of the car, but it looks like you have room for more parts along the sides of the torso and possibly on his back. I usually save the shell until the very end of a build like this, but I'm sure you can still use a lot of the model kit pieces to increase the level of detail. What are you using for feet, if anything?

The head is too small. I suggest trying to scratch build the head based on the one you're currently using to match the scale of the figure you've built. Try using a Bionicle head as the base. I think you'll find trying to build your own head a challenge and, more importantly, a lot of fun.

I really look forward to seeing how this turns out. Good luck and have fun!

Very, very tiny head. And i would reccomend finding bulkier joints.
I canĀ“t really say much more than that untill it's finished.

i actually like tiny heads on TFs. it shows their bulk in relation to other body parts (such as head)
