Yeah, I might get V3, but not anytime soon after it’s release. I’ll probably wait several years until it’s available on places like EBay for extremely marked down prices because barely anybody wanted it for what it was, simply so I can just say that I have it.

 

I can deal with it when it’s done like MP-36 where it’s optional and swappable. Integrating it into the bot is a mess. Not least because Takara aren’t interested in anything but the terrible Japanese voice actors. A large segment of purchasers are left with a useless gimmick. At least with Mp-36, third parties can provide alternatives in other languages.
Prime V3 not only has a whomping big ugly backpack, it’s there for a feature that most fans on this board probably won’t enjoy.

 

It's the clash of priorities that really gets to me. "Okay, the new Masterpiece aesthetic is toon accuracy. Everything is to be sacrificed to reach that goal; Panels, false kibble, inside-out Transformation, anything! Just get it perfectly toon accurate! Then throw on a giant disfiguring light and sound gimmick box. You know, something that's completely toon inaccurate."

The perfect prime would have mprime v3 head and lower legs, a mix between mp10 and v3 crotch, upper body and arms of mp10 without long underarms and mp10 upper legs and he would be perfect.

Orange fog lights. Orange crotch arrows. Red arm arrows. Cell shaded. Would be my perferred. Great job though buddy! The RED and BLUE(S) are perfect shades!

I wonder if Japanese Transformers fans have an attachment to the Japanese voice cast like we do with the Western one. Did the original Japanese voice actors reprise their roles in the Bayverse films like Peter Cullen did?

 

If they watched it in their childhood, I suppose they do. Although Transformers is not hugely popular in Japan (it's viewed as childish).

I'm not sure about the Bay films, but Japanese voice actors (Seiyuu) generally always stick to their roles unless they are unable to perform or die.

 

Yes. Tessho Genda reprised his role as Optimus Prime in the live action films. He has even played parodies of Optimus (Convoy) in such shows as Panty and Stocking.




He is a popular voice actor in both anime and live action. Part of his claim to fame being the official dub voice for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Tessho Genda's voice for Arnold is actually quite similar to his voice for Convoy to the point where fans joke about the Autobot leader having the "John Matrix."

I have to say, I'm still on the fence about this guy. The robot mode looks great, but the alt mode looks worse than MP10's, and that's the one where they didn't bother to do anything to hide the giant robot crotch.

 

It's MP sized.

 

I goofed assuming this was scaled with the rest of their stuff.
