It's a little annoying but so many MP and 3P figures have massive elbow gaps when the arm is bent, and super articulated shoulders almost always end up with huge unsightly gaps and breaking the sculpt.
The ab crunch on this looks like it will almost split him in half when it's used, but i'd rather have additional posability and choose whether or not to use it, than be forced with something like MP-11 which poses and bends about as well as C3P0.

Do you think that with enough folding they can get rid of the backpack? Like just build a dimensional rift into the figure like Spider-Man’s villain Spot... was it Spot?

The backpack accommodates electronics for sound gimmicks. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone make a replacement backpack piece.

For transformation MP-10 and for toon accuracy, Gokin. This looks interesting though.

I haven't seen the back pack until now. That's a bit much in my opinion.
I don't think there is a place for sound gimmick in masterpieces or any other high-end figures. In the end it just increases the price and adds unnecessary engineering/kibble.

I broke a couple of those teeny ass tabs on my MP36 so, I'm not getting Takara's.

Takara's looks pretty gappy and full of panels compared to this. I don't need Prime to do yoga. I just need him to stand on a shelf.

Plus I'm not paying $350 or whatever god awful price they're going to come up for it.

This one from MS will do fine.

Takara’s MPs have quickly become facades. Not a fan.

That backpack on Prime is terrible.

Takara's Optimus has janky shoulders and his arms look like sticks. The way the shin moves up with the knee and about 50% of the upper body is backpack just kills it entirely.

Yeah, Takara's newest version isn't even on my radar. It's a straight competition between Magic Square and Transform Element for me.

I was going to get Takara's in addition to the 3P ones out of sheer curiosity, but I am caring less and less about even experiencing V3 in-hand (haven't bothered with MP-36). Both this and the Transform Element one look incredibly kick-ass and should complement my Shadow Fisher-upgraded MP-10 nicely. Takara can keep the extreme articulation if it comes at the cost of faux-part-ridden-inside-out-former engineering.

It kinda makes me wonder if and when Magic Square and Transform Element will make an MP Megatron.
