Go download Paint.NET - it's an awesome free program, with a ton of cool features. Very easy to use.

There's also GIMP, but I never got into that one. It was confusing to me, as I have never used Photoshop, and I've heard they are similar.

Corel Paint Shop Pro also offers you a free 60-day trial which is useful for a short-term fix.

    Get photoshop elements.

Honestly, I haven't used anything but photoshop for almost 11 years now.

Can't afford Photoshop? Choose GimpShop. It's layout is very similar to Photoshop and should be familiar to any photoshop users. There are even import tools to bring in your favorite photoshop filters.

    MS Paint has uses?

Anyway, The Gimp is cool. Or Paint Shop Pro. I think they have a trial if you just need something temporary.
