Even still, the fact that the flames are there at all means that it’s intended to be part of the nose. That’s further supported by the fact that you can see the abs forming a part of the nose in the most detailed transformation we received of it. The paint doesn’t stay consistent but the point stands that they are pieces of the outer vehicle.
What? No it doesn't. The abs are formed by the radiator, not grill. Which ends up behind the firewall.
In the end, nothing of this matters, because if both Optimus figures don't use the cab to form the legs, then no one got an accurate transformation. So, you're only wasting your time if you think that one of them got a fairly accurate transformation.
I went ahead and watched that scene again because it's enjoyable. The part you circled ends up being his forearms. Adding to the original argument. But Seth is right (while sneaking his leg from cab transformation in there). We debate for no reason.
We could debate this for pages and still not get anywhere. That’s just part of the charm of the transformers fandom, though.
I really hope Has-Tak should no longer allow a botched QC like MPM-4 for the 2nd time around. I want to support the MPM line as much as I could. But as @Shin Densetsu said, Has-Tak SHOULD GIVE ASSURANCE that the QC issue like MPM-4 will no longer ever ever ever happen.
I"m OK with minimal faux parts, since a lot of the designs would be literally impossible without it. A lot of the metal parts simply bend and reshape themselves. Just look at Ironhide's bumper, several of Ratchet's parts, or Knight Prime's moobs.
So what if his toes are sticking to the back of truck in altmode officially? What would be Has-Tak's excuse for that? Like what would those sticking out toes represent in real world pick-up truck? Did anyone spot anything on MPM-06's toes in bot mode if there's a flip hinge somewhere on the feet near the toes?
I'm not one to usually defend takara, especially as of recent with their horrible toonified mp g1s but tbh this is a fine compromise. The only other solution would be to hollow some of the feet and put the toes on hinges which would make them looser.
