I\'ve said it once, I\'ll say it again, the movie masterpieces alt mode are so out of scale that I don\'t even bother transforming them. The robot modes are the toys I\'ve wanted since I saw the first movie. Op, bumblebee, ironhide and barricade all look fantastic

It wasn't until I saw this image that I realized his door panels flip 180 degrees to get into the right position, and that made me extremely happy for some reason.

 

It makes me happy that they used silver plastic for the rubber spinner instead of the ugly white thing we saw during the event reveal for Ironhide, why they didn't used that colour for Prime?, fits him perfectly.

 

You would think with Barricade releasing in April, HLJ would freaking post him already.

 

MPM Takara Prime's preorders appaeared like two weeks before being released.

 

I've been watching HLJ and AE ( for Ironhide), like a hawk.
I do have Barricade preordered at TFS, but no way in hell am I paying 135 dollars for Hide.

 

So, between MPM-05 and HA Barricade, here's my take away:

Cons (compared to HA):
-No Frenzy
-Weapon not integrated
-Doors don't open
-More panel lines in vehicle mode

Pros (compared to HA):
-Hip joints that don't suck absolute balls
-Two functional hands
-Very faithful silhouette and better proportions (the HA is really top-heavy and lacking in the leg department)
-Better looking weapon
-Sleeker, less doofy-looking headsculpt
-Better kibble management
-Likely more poseable, and with some die-cast parts

So, like, if some of you are happier with the HA, that's cool, but I think the MPM looks really great. All of the cons I can find are easily solved (I've still got an HA Frenzy) or ignorable for me.

 

I just dug my HA Barry out of storage and ‘relieved’ him of Frenzy.
Until we actually get a MPM Frenzy I’m just going to use him on display!  

And the wait is now even more killing knowing that some lucky basterds already have him!

 

Shouldnt a lot of that blue be purple?

 

Technically all of it should be dark-ish purple. Including the police badges on the sides of alt. mode

 

There are a few shots there where it does look pretty purple, though. The paint looks a bit iridescent, so hopefully it's one of those things that simply doesn't photograph well at all.

I'm afraid that it's blue. The camera isn't playing any tricks on us. The color map that was shown quite a while ago has the blue paint listed.

 

Okay, if you're judging the alt mode with a Human Alliance figure whose whole point was to create the best alt mode possible while having the capability to transform, then yes, you'll end with a Masterpiece failing on that end. Masterpieces aren't supposed to have perfectly detailed interiors—just alt modes that satisfy whatever it's supposed to represent. MPM Barricade does just that. The only thing wrong with the alt mode is the line that goes through the door, which was unavoidable to begin with if we're getting a screen accurate figure. Everything else is fine.

Besides, the Human Alliance counterpart isn't perfect either. Two things I noticed: the horrendous unpainted gas cap cover and the inaccurate license plate.

 

I think I actually prefer the look of the blue paint over purple. It accents the details a lot better.

 

I didn't said interiors though.

Just a decent alt mode.
