Is this new Shockwave painted or is it just a darker purple plastic?

 

That copy in the video definitely looks painted, but we don't know if yet if that will be the case with the final product. There is a chance it will be, though, as Red Alert+ and Sideswipe+ both had more extensive paint jobs than their original releases. It'd definitely help justify this guy's cost, that's for sure.

 

Side note: does anyone else think it's hilarious that the Decepticon symbols in MP-36+ has on the handle of his gun mode end up on his butt in robot mode?

That's probably the reason.  

TBH, money isn't so much the issue, but it's the space for Shock/Laserwave on MP shelf and wondering if this is worthy enough swap for lighter shade cartoon accuracy vs just a sexier shade of purple cartoon accuracy.

Your observation is correct. I discovered this while pouring over the stock images looking carefully for tampos. I believe this figure will look pretty stellar in hand. Are you getting both megs and Shockwave Sam?

 

Yes I am. I actually put in two pre-orders for 29+, I love Shockwave that much! And I plan to swap the chest piece and hands with my original 29 for one of them, as the hand colour of 29 are quite toon accurate as well (the character art for Shockwave that 29 is based on also has pinkier hands than he came with). That way I'll have three slightly different versions of Shockwave  

Need to get in the pre-order for 36+, but I'll definitely be getting him. He'll go nicely with my yellow-eyed MP-10 (and even nicer with an eventual OP3+), and he scratches that itch of the G1 toy I never got.

Plus, as nice as BW Megatron and Dinobot look, or as tempting as the Primal reissue are for me to jump in on the BW train, I'd rather put the money towards the releases that really get my nostalgia going. I really enjoyed watching Beast Wars for the first time recently, but a release like 36+ has to come first. Especially what it could mean for future + repaints (I'd love both a true-to-toon Jazz and a toy-accurate + repaint too).

 

Agree with this. An eventual V3+ will be very cool to have.

Hopefully you’ll get around to getting BW Megs in the next 4-5 months too. Luckily a small silver lining is that he’s the largest ‘bite to swallow’ in the line. Nothing else should hurt the wallet so much. Lol luckily

 

I don't foresee any BW MPs in the near future, unless they announce Rattrap who was a personal favourite of mine, the little asshole!

If BW was my G1 then I'd happily pay the price for that epic Megatron, but I'd rather keep my money for two copies of Optimus Prime instead
