I mean, I'm not gonna post @chchchch's MP-44+ digibash or anything... but if he wants to, I'm not exactly gonna stop him...

Because you know you're gonna get MP-44+ when he comes, so why not get 36+ already in preparation?  

As much as I used to watch my video cassettes I also used to stare at the box cover, so you can imagine how cool it will be to finally have a toy version of this:

On a figure related note..
Does anyone know what the tampos on his groin area are referencing? The original G1 mega didn’t have stickers there, did he?

 

That would be the stickers on the inside thighs of the G1 toy...

 

Sorta, he had stickers for his "thigh" bars as well as the top and bottom of his legs

 

On the inside of his legs (almost like the reverse side of his hip flaps):

I think my perfect MP-36 would be in between the original and 36+. Not too much toon, nor toy, but a perfect fusion of both.

Got my MP-29+ today. I really like him, but having him next to MP-29 makes me think the size of the eye and the finish is actually more important to me than the shade of purple. Ideally I'd want MP Shockwave to be a purple somewhere between MP-29 and MP-29+, but if I could have MP-29 with the smaller eye and the shinier finish of MP-29+ I think that would be very close.

 

Ahhhh crap this guy just looks tooo good. Never had a gun Megatron before. The color being very different long with all the quirky accessories, the toy face...he just comes with the new accessories right? And not the regular ones?

Anyone wanna buy anything from me? Lol...

For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little budget for MP toy repaints...

 

I like both and I think the original 29 goes well with Megs but I love the new eye and finish on 29+. Maybe they should have gone with lighter purple for the tampos though? You can barely see them in this shot.

 

Great shot! I think this is the first group shot with all three. I can see liking both for reasons the other lacks. I will say the OG mp29 with the lighter shade feels lighter and airier more cartoon like (not necessarily more cartoon accurate). Whereas the darker tone seems more serious and has a more darker feel to it. I think alot of the details gets lost in the darker shade due to it being drowned out with the less shadowing bc it is so dark. Either way we cant lose. I think I'll stick with my OG mp29 since I'm saddled with two.

Any plans to keep both or? How do you like the hands on the +?

That's why I ended up with the Magtren KO. Because I wanted a Megatron with silver body and red accents. Magten. The MP36+ is something else, and it's really weird looking to me. They went full toy. MP36 went full toon, and I wanted something of a fusion of the two. The only reason I buy a KO is because it offers something I could not get otherwise.

If there's anything I've learned from the MP36+ and the MP-29+, is that my days of buying a Masterpiece as soon as it is released are over. No more of that. If you want to know what your real options are, wait for a few years. I know that might sound crazy, but there's no reason you can't wait. The fixed Shockwave is out now and you can still buy the regular no problem.

 

I’m keeping both for sure. Most likely the darker one on the shelf and the lighter one for alt mode display.

I don’t mind the hands on MP-29+ but I can see why some wouldn’t like them. I tried the 29 hands on 29+ and I didn’t think it matched the other colours as well imo. I noticed in the promo shot with MP-36+ the hands seem brighter and more pink. They may have painted them on the prototype.

 

We all know TF:TM was the finest work of Orson Welles' career, but the Paul Mason commercial is a close second.
