Lovin the fact this is an entire scratch build, and it looks like its coming along nicely.

very interested on how this one turns out, loved the IDW version of this character from the start

 

Looking fantastic so far; the head looks great already, and I'm loving those hands, they really suit him.

 

i realy like that concept of thunderwing.     hasbro drop the ball on this guy. he is just to small but i am sure this is going to be awesome!

I think the head should have been just a little more exaggerated. as in little pointier (if that makes sense)

Otherwise this thing is really shaping up to be beautiful.

I agree with you Sioce, but only on the Jay Leno chin, I would go with a sharper pointier chin. This is going to be another amazing piece F_R, I cant wait to see how you integrate the Jet engines into the figure and my favorite part of this piece so far are the hands. They just match the figure concept drawing perfectly!!!

One thing that always bugged me about the Eneron Megatron figure was the lack of articulation in the upper legs....fixed

used a nut/bolt jig which even gives the legs about 1/2" extra length as well...

... did you mean mount a nut into the plastic or make a placeholder from styrene etc. and a bolt on the opposite side?

can you draw the idea in paint/adobe/etc.?

That is a high level modifications right there! Just wondering since your still in the WIP phase, how would Vector Prime legs look on this piece? would the size ratio be off or proportions. Looking at the concept drawing it just bring vector prime legs to mind. Nothing against the megatron legs they look just as good!!! Either way again this piece is amazing.

 

funny you said that. over the weekend, I looked at Don's drawing/concept, and immediately ALSO though of VP, especially because the forearm guard things, and the legs. IF I revisit this character, I will use a VP. he will be a little smaller, but I think it's a great starting base/figure.

thanks for taking note on the complexity in the legs too. If you've seen these legs, you'd know how tight those areas are...

so, he's pretty much done. waiting on an essential part (which I lost as usual) to reassemble him, and then he'll be painted...

 

dude, the chest piece is epic. the gill work and tubing aspects are awesome. and awesome work on the legs. i always hated that about the toy as well  

may i ask where the hands are from? are they even from a TF? i read through the posts but didn't find mention of it.

cannot wait to see the final painted product.
