    Hello all-

I apologize if this has been covered--I did a search and didn't see anything.

I really want to get a MP Starscream, but am not sure which one to go for (other than I don't want "Greenscream"). So there are two versions I know about:

    1) MP Starscream (Hasbro - US edition)
    2) MP Starscream (Takara-Tomy "US edition")

Has anyone done a comparison on these? For example:

-Does one have more metal parts than the other? (i.e. Hasbro/Takara versions of MP Optimus)

-I've seen pics of a tiny Dr. Arkeville in the cockpit--does that only come with one version of it, and not the other?

-Does the Hasbro version have any "chopped" parts? (like the Hasbro MP Optimus' short smokestacks)

-Are there any other major differences?

Would appreciate any info you guys could share, since it's kind of a big purchase :)

    Thanks!

To my knowledge, the Wal-Mart version and Japanese Anime version are identical. (Well, that's what I read on BBTS)

The Takara-Tomy USA Edition has more pointy tailfins and a Decepticon symbol on the nosecone, while the Hasbro version has barely-modified tailfins that are a bit more dull and no symbol on the nosecone. That's about it.

Isn't there less carbon scoring on the Japaense release as well? I missed the definitive answer on that.

But yeah the differenses are pretty minute.

Hasbro G1 Screamer, MP Skywarp if you don't already have him and have some cash to throw around.

From what I've heard, the only mold differences between Hasbro's and Takara's "US editions" is on the Takara mold, some of the pointy bits on the tailfins are sharper/pointier. (it's not like short smokestacks though. I couldn't even tell a difference until I saw some photos that pointed it out.)

And for the umpty-billionth time... There is no less (or more) metal in Hasbro's 20th Optimus than there is in the Takara one. You can bludgeon someone to death equally well with either of them. Same answer for Starscream, except trying to hit someone with that toy would result in an explosion of plastic parts.
