Transformers Masterpiece MP-32 Optimus Primal For release in July, I didn't see this elsewhere, did I miss it?
I saw it on BBTS earlier this morning. Heck, I didn’t realize it had sold out, though I knew Cheetor did a while ago. I guess they want Primal available when Dinobot drops.
Never been into Beast Wars. Sometimes I wondered about collecting MP Beast Wars but it doesn’t catch my fancy.
A couple of episodes. Animation turned me off. Considering I studied computer animation in college, I can understand why I dislike it at least.
To me , in many ways , beast wars was a love letter to g1 fans and is a part of the g1 universe . The show was amazing . I don’t really get the divide
Funny, I'd disagree, I think the animation is excellent for very early CG animation. A lot of emphasis upon expression, when the show could have been really stiff and unappealing. I can get why the low level of detail (both in textures and environments) would turn modern viewers off, though.
I feel like if you'd studied computer animation you'd have more appreciation for what was accomplished at the time despite how new all-CGI cartoons were back then.
I just finished watching Beast wars with my 9 year old son last month and he loved it, we are watching beast machines now and he loved the first ep as well. in his eyes, the animation is awesome, he seriously loved beast wars and is liking beast machines now too , he loves the g1 references especially and I have raised him on the g1 stuff and only the g1 stuff ( basically )
Nah, that can't be true. Everybody knows Beast Wars toys don't sell. He can't get a reissue. This must be one of those crazy 4chan rumors
More likely it’s to tie in with MP Dinobot’s release first and foremost. PotP would be a secondary reason, if one at all. I had a hard time with the animation at first for similar reasons, though I stuck with it and am very glad I did… … and this is why. It really is some of the best storytelling in all of Transformers. TF animated is a very close second and I was put off by that animation style at first too.
I never watched Beast Wars but there is so much talking about it here lately that I might let my curiosity win!
I've already got MP32/38 but I'm sure I'll get this one too to keep Dinobot company. It may be my favourite MP. And as much as CG Animation has advanced in leaps and bounds since 1996 never once while watching the Series at the time did I think "what a poorly rendered lava-flow, I must dismiss this entire series and every Toy related to it as a result! And keep doing so for the next 20 years!" Because......well I'm not wired up like that. If you really don't get on with the aesthetic that's fair enough because everyone sees what they see, but to hang such dismissive dislike on "quality"........seems strange after all this time. It was a toy-commercial, but by any objective standard a damned fantastic toy-commercial. Mileage obviously varies
You won't regret it! It's a wonderful balance of drama, comedy and great character work. The first few episodes are a little slow, but once the show gets going there's no stopping it.
