I'm doing this big guy on commission. I had originally contracted to do something totally different, but then I spotted the A-TEAM van at Target and the next thing I knew I was a week into working on this project. Luckily, we both agreed that this had potential, and we altered the deal. The A-TEAM movie toys are to scale with G.I. Joes, so he's about 50% bigger than would be a 1/24 scale vehicle (Alternator/ Human Alliance scale.) I tired my best to keep a usable cab with seats, but the transformation just wouldn't allow it. He's going to get opaque windows to hide the shoulders in the cab. There's really no way to make a guy transform into a van without having a bit of a gut, but in Ironhide's case, I think it works. I think the huge lower legs help to balance things out. He's going to be getting bigger feet to stomp around on as well. The van mode looks a little saggy because all of the inner structure isn't there yet, and not everything is glued. I'm going to get the head working soon. As for the mechanism I'm considering, think Laser Optimus Prime, but up from the back. This is from an earlier point in the build, but it shows how the arms sit in there. The doors don't work this way any more. His final paint job will be red. Yes there will be a Ratchet. All comments and crits are welcome.
