The fact that there has been so much debate about the height of MP Grimlock is telling - if he'd been the same height as Prime and Megs most of us would right now be looking forward to adding Grimlock to our collection. As it is his size has fuelled the price issue, made many people want to display it with another, altogether smaller scaled line (Classics), put some people off buying him at all and made others want him, but acknowledge that he'll look his best displayed alone.

I really wish there was a way of making Takara aware of all this. Alas, by buying him we're justifying their decisions and by not buying him we're possibly ensuring an end to the MP line because of poor sales. Sucks either way.

Well, I was right and wrong at the same time. Grmmy is 2x the size of G1 lock, but I was really off about him being up to mp convoy's shoulder height.. Crappy.oh well, I'll still buy him.

You put it very well. Nonetheless, I have pre-ordered him anyway. I just hope the QC is up to snuff. If not, I'm gonna be pissed...for $150, this thing better be perfect.

Unlike every Yamato Macross toy I have ever owned, but that is a seperate rant...

Pretty much this. I'd love to have this MP and it's damn near perfect, BUT I can't justify the size for the price (yes yes I know about the poor world economy). Some people can and that is great, good for them, but I can't. Having such a small Grimlock would be like having a MP Megatron at the same size IMO.

The QC on this figure is mind blowing. Everything is very sturdy and stable. I did notice 1 small problem....the hips need to fold downwards under the crotch and become vertical to the boy. The hinge and slighly fold UNDER the front of the crotch/waist (which is die cast) however, there isn't enough clearance for them. You'll see plastic is rubbing off/scraped in this area. Other than that, it's VERY solid. Stands in many posed position much better than MP prime or megs, who (for me) constantly are falling over.

The way I see it, if Takara made MP Grimlock in the appropriate scale as compared to the other MPs, Grimlock would be about an inch or two taller than Prime and that increased scale would probably end up doubling the cost of the figure. I won't mind spending $150, hopefully less if Hasbro releases one, for an awesome looking Grimlock, but there's no way I would buy a larger in scale, $200-300 MP Grimlock.

The fact of the matter is that Prime and Megatron were special cases due to their elevated standings in the TF mythology. Starscream and Grimlock are now the standard sizes for the Masterpiece line going forward.

He's a tad taller than the MP seekers and much taller than Alternators.

I wouldn't have complained if he was a smidge taller. Having said that, he is perfectly fine the way he is..... BIG!

Can I request a photo with MP-08 and the other MP figures: Prime, Megs and a seeker?

I'm afraid the picture of him next to silverstreak has me thinking of cancelling my order (he was going to stand behind BT Jazz and KP Rodimus on my shelves, between MP Prime and MP Magnus, and I hoped he'd be more... Erm... imposing.)

Obviously there are two schools of thought. ;-)
