So a few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to make a new seeker head. It's actually something I've wanted to do for a long time, since I first picked up Skywarp at Walmart, I just didn't have the know-how until now. So I sculpted up something that I felt was more suited to the mold, reshaping the skull cap and sides, as well as a new face that didn't have that stupid smirk. Then I sent it off to my good friend Z, who cast and molded it in a clear blue resin, which fit the theme that I had in mind for painting the figure. I've done Sunstorm before, and since this mold lends itself to many possibilities, I figured it was time to try something completely different. I've been experimenting with lots of different airbrush techniques, and I foudn something that caught my eye: glacial ice. So, I started with a HoK gloss white/silver mix, followed by about 12 different layers of stenciled, custom mixed HoK candies. I also sanded the canopy and sprayed the inside with HoK Transparent Oriental Blue. A first for me, I installed 2 3mm LED's in him as well, one in the head and one in the cockpit. Just a little break from the norm, you'll be seeing some outside of the box thinking coming soon.
