Neither. It’s an odd kind of pearlescent finish. Flat but with some shimmer to it. It’s more like inferno’s face.

Anyone know if the reissue going to be available via Amazon Japan? I'd love to get a second one.

No confirmation of a Takara reissue as of yet. Just the Hasbro Asia one, which won’t be available from Amazon Japan.

Could still happen this year, though.

Anyone get the recent reissue of Sunstreaker? How is it? How's it holding up?
Would like a copy with a bit more solid paint (and a bit more solid all around).

Also, @ambitron, do you fancy doing your cartoon sketch magic just to see how Sunstreaker's face translates to 2D? Pretty please :D

Hate to sound like a noob but what problems did he have? I’ve owned him since day one changed him maybe twice, and have zero issues with him. Just wanna know what to look out for?

I've owned the initial Takara release and got the recent re-issue. I never compared them side by side as I sold the Takara version before I got the re-issue but they seem identical to me.

I’m away for a few days at the moment but if you remind me when I’m back late next week I’d be happy too. Sadly I don’t think Sunstreaker’s noggin, with its eye shape and long chin, will quite match the cartoon - but then BB2’s accuracy when translated to 2D was a surprise so we’ll have to see. :)

Paint chipping/flaking has been quite bad on my first run, particularly on his hands.
The little tab that holds his calves in place broke/bent on his left leg, so his lower leg can’t tab in solidly.
The ratchet in his right leg at the hip doesn’t work properly, it’s looser than it should be.
Not everyone’s hand these problems, but I’n just curious if the reissue is holding up better.

Everything tight and holding up ok? How’s the paint faring this time around?

Yes we might be pleasantly surprised! I’ll remind you then, enjoy your time away pal :thumb

I don't fiddle to much with my figures so haven't seen any signs of wear. The chrome is good just like the original and not like TT Ironhide/Ratchet or Hotrod which was pretty atrocious.

I must have transformed my original one 30 times and I swear it looks and feels as good as new. No flaking of any sort either.

I've had flaking around the joints around his hands, because that type of plastic doesn't hold paint very well. But you can't see the damage easily anyways, since it's yellow paint on yellow plastic. Other than that, though, the finish seems quite durable, and his transformation doesn't involve any parts having to slip and scrape past each other.

anybody got recommendations on the type of paint/yellow to use? There is a gloss to it, and the yellow is a rather warm, school bus yellow.

Ok only problem on that list I have is the right hip being loose. I’ve only Transformed him ONCE and that was on 12-29-17 (day he was delivered) to robot mode. Never changed him due to fear of the problems you just listed sadly.
