Hard to say really. Seeing as 2016 went by with Hasbro never making any reference to the 20th Anniversary. The best they could do was that awful YoTM Primal, which wasn't even a Beast Wars toy. And even that was Hasbro Asia... But don't worry though! They were sure to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the '86 movie.

If Hasbro does bring over MP Primal at some point, I have little doubt it will be MP38.

 

Exactly, Takara releasing a toy variant of this mold does not mean hasbro won't release it at all

 

Even if they do they will have missed the opportunity to slap a 20th Anniversary sticker on the box. Which kinda sucks since thats what this mold was meant to celebrate.

But I hope they release it eventually. It will give me an excuse to buy another one, especically if its MP38.

 

Already have MP32 and love it. Gonna get this one and use it for dark Optimus Primal from the BW episode "Gorilla Warfare". They made his colors slightly darker to match his toy at the time.

I have owned every masterpiece transformer toy from the original G1 cartoon, and every G1, beast wars, and beast machines toy worth owning. I love masterpiece toys but this figure in my personal opinion defeats the purpose of what their trying to do. I mean Masterpiece primal is supposed to be what the original toy wasnt, a perfect encarnation of the CGI animation. I know they want to get the most for the mold, and this may be the only answer, but it could have waited. Idk what do you guys think.

I wasnt expecting to see a repaint of primal this early but what can you do it happens, as much as id like to of seen megs in all of his mp glory sadly ill just have to wait. Im a beast wars fan thats my generation of transformers but others have g1 I was expecting to see a g1 character revealed not a repaint of primal (I'd love to see what they have in store for the continuation of the masterpice line bw or g1) I think its great there going out of there comfort zone with the beasties and im glad its working out so far. Count me in for mp-38
Primal always gets what he wants..... but guess what so do I...... yes!

 

I wonder how they will approach Megatron if they do him - as this "toy" Primal is clearly more matched to the Beast Wars II movie than anything. They wouldn't have such details to add to a Megatron, so would they just go all toy (which was severely lacking in the details in robot mode) or skip that release altogether? Hmm...

 

Does anyone know if that's how this works or not?

 

For cars, yes. For animals, no

Because really, he has the exact same potential as Primal. They could likewise do a Robot Masters/original toy colour scheme for a redeco.

 

for megatron there is also t-wreks, cybertron deluxe/armada predacon

 

Just watch them do some kind of Grimlock redeco. A big bad T-Rex, they'd find it hard to resist.
