Their beast modes aren't even remotely similar.

I hope Dr Wu makes a new beast head for SP. And a new fluffy tail.

 

Looks pretty cool, but the release date makes me worried for future Masterpiece releases. How many are we going to get this year is the question. And I don't know how many MPM figures we'll get this year too.

 

I'm just going to refer to this as Diaclone Cheetor in my head so that I have some lame excuse to buy it.

I literally fell asleep reading this.

I mean, cool beans for all the BW fans, but I'd like to get at least a bead of sweat out of Takara on the G1 side sooner rather than later.

 

Not really feeling him being BW Ravage. I know that's exactly what they did for the toy, but even still. At least give me one cat person face.

 

But he’s not Ravage? Surprised that a lot of people are confusing him for Ravage when it’s kinda obvious he isn’t given his name.

 

Fiction wise, it can go either way. If you want him to be Ravage, he can be. If you want him to be a separate character, hey, the fiction supports that too. Win win

 

As has been pointed out numerous times, the confusion is because Shadow Panther was brought over to the US for a limited time through an old Hasbro Collector site. In that time, he was referred to as "Tripredacus Agent" which is the name Hasbro used to represent Ravage in the Beast Wars toyline.

But that wasn't who he was in the original context of Japanese Beast Wars.

This guy gets it.

 

Why isn't he? Metals Jaguar never came over, but Shadow Panther did, under the name "Tripredacus Agent", meaning Hasbro itself was happy saying, "this is the best you're getting. Deal with it."

 

Beast Wars Ravage was built on the Transmetal Cheetor model, not the S1 one, so that's a no-go.
First we gotta get our first Transmetal mold, which I really hope happens. I like the TM designs way better.

 

Thanks Randy, waded through 6 pages of, admittedly educational, discussion about cats for this.

I have a friend who just moved to Japan, he'll be happy to be able to pick this up for me. He's always wanted to be able to do something like this for me.

 

Takara did well to remember the original redeco and seize the opportunity to reuse the MP mold. Even so, this is an easy pass for me.

 

They should do a joint promo with the Black Panther movie.
