Sorry for the big snip, but, as most of us know, the early toys were also a "mash-up" of products from pre-existing (and different) toy lines, cobbled together to create a product line, and I'd argue that the details present on those were a consequence of that, rather than an intentional design element.

My thoughts are that if they had been designed 'from the ground up', alongside the TV show, then things would potentially look quite different (i.e., aesthetics being aligned more closely), and these types of conversations would possibly not be happening - added detail, or no. We only need to look at more recent TF media to see this approach in effect.

Heck, you can even look at the likes of the Movie/Season 3 cast to see that there had been a shift towards a more "animation accurate" interpretation in the toys back in the day, with less molded surface detailing etc.

As a side point, I was never interested in minute details on the toys when I was a kid - I just wanted something that resembled what was on the screen. I never got Ironhide or Ratchet, but I can imagine my disappointment if I had - no amount of added detail would have helped that.

I'm not saying it's wrong to want more detailed sculpting on MPs, but I do feel that people are punishing themselves by lamenting its absence constantly.

I've already got 3 of the original. I wonder if I should also pick up a mp20+ too while anime export has preorders by the end of the month.

If he's one of your favourite characters then sure, why not? It's a steal of a price. How do you display your three 20s? One MISB, one in alt, one in bot mode?

I only have one on display. The others I had stored away. But I may end up selling one.

The people who make decisions at Entertainment Earth are clueless - they are charging the same price that places like BBTS, who actually imports the stock themselves, are charging. So they are charger import retailer markups for stuff hasbro is sending them. A smarter move would have been toset competitive prices on par with JP sites, otherwise most people will actuall get it cheaper importing themselves. There may as well be NO hasbro release of these figures.

I have fallen behind on the + releases (been more about saving money), but this one looks so clean that I don't think I can pass on it. Just afraid I am going to want to go back and get the ones I missed.

I have preordered a MP20+ from Anime Export. And I have 20 days to think about getting a second one.

The people at Embarrassment Earth are just assholes. I bet on the "wholesale" side these aren't even $10 less, before shipping, than retail.

You know, I didn't even pay attention to the wings. I forgot the original has Clear Wings, while this one is full grey.
