Funny you say that.....I'm just now coming to the same realization too. Whereas it's cool to see a real-world vehicle worked into the equation; especially for friends like mine who are huge car buffs but notsomuch "Transformers" fans....in fact, they love to come over and see how accurate they were able to get the vehicle...but I digress. For me, I do very much love the best effort possible to get what I see/saw on the TV screen back when I was 10 years old, into toy form now.

This + line has been totally taking over, and replacing my shelves to be honest. Just threw my Prowl up in the sales thread (shameless plug) and all the other + versions have been swapped out already as well. In fact, I've even gone as far to replace the optional bits and pieces to pull from the cartoon aesthetic. (I'm looking at you MP Grapple)

So for me personally, I'm for the + line all the way; of course opinions vary....but that was just mine.

I get all that and I have no problem with any of that. I’m just saying if you’re gonna put out a new edition anyway that it’d be a nice service to your fans/buyers to upgrade to rubber wheels. It’s just a feature that would up the quality of the figure without sacrificing a damn thing to the toon aesthetic.

Sorry man, but most of us do not want rubber wheels anyways.

Oh, I didn't realize that's what we were discussing.

Yeah, I dunno about rubber wheels man; whereas they look and feel great....in the long run you might be asking for trouble.
Having said that, I sure wouldn't mind if they announced that it will have 'em.

I don't mind rubber tires, but there's no need to "upgrade" the qualitiy when you're backed by the actual car license.

Really? I’m genuinely curious here, maybe I haven’t been an MP collecter as long as some of you guys... what’s the downside with them?

Typically the rubber would split on some older toys. It doesn't hold up as well as plastic. I know people say that now rubber production will be better, but i still have a sour taste in my mouth. I also don't really roll my toys around on the floor so much, so I feel rubber tires don't add anything to the toy. Plastic is cheaper to produce and probably helps keep costs as low as possible. It's sort of the style of thinking from 20-10 years ago that heft, rubber, and diecast make the quality of a toy. but now engineering has taken over as the most prominent feature of the MP line.

As others have said: If it has rubber tires (it 100% won't) I wouldn't mind really. but it's nothing to be upset over :)

The back end of the alt mode is going to be dark grey as well, to get he animation accurate hand guard things.
Anybody else wish they painted the top surface if his chest white? Kind of a bummer the clear blue plastic is just exposed. Guess it didn't bother me when it was dark smoked on the current vetsion.

Yup, I mentioned that in my post:

"with a black rear around the taillights."

I can see what you're saying, but it's also the angle of the photo that makes it so much more pronounced. Either way, wow I'm looking for to this figure. I LOVE(d) this figure, but the hyper real-world version of the alt mode (as perfectly as it was executed) never screamed Jackie to me.

This will be a welcomed + edition figure.

If the toy is fun and has great QC durability, they can use any material. Just make sure it’s fun and isn’t prone to easy damage.

I transformed Wheeljack back to vehicle mode for the first time since I got him back in 2014.

He fits together so perfectly! A really amazing piece of work.

I bet they’ll do a retool of Wheeljack + to make Sunstreaker +.

I have a feeling the material being used on many modern toys is no longer rubber, at least not the same formulation of rubber from the 80's. More likely to be a soft silicone, which wouldn't have the same degradation issues. Or even one of the many other formulations of rubber that are available and don't degrade as readily.
To me it's like "gold plastic syndrome", a thing of the past that a few people still worry about in spite of zero evidence that it's still an issue. We don't see folks worried that MP Dinobots gonna shatter into dust but there's still complaints about rubber tyres.
And, honest confession time, I did go out of my way about 5 years ago to buy some "Gummi Pflege" rubber protection stuff for MP-10 just in case, but haven't needed to apply any.
The MP-10 mould is 7 yers old now and MP-01 has been around for nearly 15 and I haven't come across reports from folks of the rubber tyres having any issues on those?
For me, it's a premium extra which MP's should have, but most won't due to cost cutting. Same as articulated hands. As an aside, many of the later KO's have been getting rubbery tyres, including the just released MP-14+.
But I don't expect the official's to have it anymore.

As an aside, I was thinking, when do we think the anime edition thing will end? By which I mean, what figures do folks think will get the "anime Plus edition" treatment and which ones are already toon accurate enough. It seems clear that the carbots up to MP-25/26 will be "plussed" (will Exhaust and Road Rage get it? They weren't actually toon characters so there may not be a demand for it?)
Looking at Ironhide and Ratchet, they're already pretty toon accurate, Shockwave is being re-done pretty much because of the whole "purple/lilac" debate, and Inferno and the Fuso's now include toon accurate parts. Hot Rods also pretty spot on to the toon (at least in terms of colour - torso shape not so much).
My thought is it will probably stop at Tracks, though they may try to dumb down some of the vehicle details for Ironhide and Ratchet.

And I'm all for the toon look. I'm swapping out my early carbots for toon eiditions as and when they become available and couldn't be happier.

Excellent! I'll add these to the first post.

Looks like no Hypno-Chip Disruptor or toy-launchers.

He looks pretty amazing. @Dean ML come bask in his glory!
