Edit: Wait... wait... I just compared his leg, foot, arm, and smokestack height to MP-10... and that image looks way closer to MP-44 than MP-10. The smokestack extends down to his elbow joint. MP-10's doesn't. His "calves" are narrower like MP-44. The foot looks more like MP-44.

Just a stylistic choice or...? (Of course, all this assumes the image is related at all to the figure. It's not like the other characters in the image are MP accurate.)

 

I expect that wasn't much more than a throwaway remark at the time. Either that or you had a 5 month time travelling experience and this was actually a spoiler...

 

I’d say a stylistic choice to be as close to the animation character model as possible. I do wonder if the artists use the MPs as a reference sometimes.

I still reckon the actual toy will be an MP-10 repaint, to be affordable to more people (unless they do MP-44 sans trailer).

 

I’d be happier (and my wallet would too) if it’s a Siege or SS38 retool to a Sunbow approximation. MP10 would tower over Ectotron.

Also, who do you suppose he’s fighting?

Gozerized Megatron? Gozer taking Megatron’s form? Starscream? (Yes. Starscream appears to be elsewhere in the image but that could always be a different seeker in the final colors.)

I kinda want Siege Starscream in glow in the dark/semi-translucent colors with the Tetrajet backpack replaced with Staypuft. That’s a tooling that can become different things clearly based on what you replace the backpack with.

 

Alternative thought:

Star Convoy’s cab redecoed in Ecto-1 colors with PotP Optimus trailer, deco’d as a Ghost Trap.

So you get a Voyager scale Optimus in red, white, and black who merges with his Ghost Trap trailer to form a bigger Ghostbuster Optimus.

I distinctly remember I wished there was a service like Patreon a good 5+ years before it existed. If I have the gift it's the version where I don't even know I'm doing it. Less annoying than Cassandra style, but not very useful either.

I wonder if Ectotron could fit in the trailer.

 

I had assumed Optimus was fighting something along the lines of a re-colored Megatron to go with the re-colored Prime, but as @WreckageGhost pointed out in the comic thread, Blitzwing is holding Megatron's alt-mode gun, which would mean Prime's probably fighting someone else.... But who could it be??
