The smokestacks won't need to be shortened. The trailer is nice but since most people display in robot mode, it is not essential. Mine stays in the box 90% of the time.

Never saw Rodimus here in Vegas once. TRU employees said they didn't see one either. Preparing to get scalped. Might just bite the bullet and buy MP-10 at BotCon, the one time my wife will let me get away with spending that kind of money on toys.

I thought the smokestacks on MP-10 collapsed? They might need to get rid of the angled top but if it just slides through to bottom of the stack that might pass the safety requirements.

I don't know. If the US version came with trailer I would expect it to be just grey cast plastic, not the painted version of Takara.
Tack on the fact that most of the takara buyers are paying import fees and such.. eh..

If a US version came out for $120 I'd be excited, as I'd buy it and paint a bunch of it.

Yuck. If they're gonna do the trailer, i feel like they should paint the blasted thing properly.

Meh I got a six month lead, and i'm fairly convinced Hasbro will do something to differentiate it from MP10 even if the trailer is included.

(i think) if they just copied Mp10 outright, it might irk Takara because they loose the ability to charge a premium for some fairly small differences.

...and lets face it, charging out the a$$ for small extras is a large part of what Takara's 'collector focus' is really about.

Well of course a painted trailer and such is what we'd want it's look nice. But hasbro and takara have done it before where there are those massive paint differences..

On top of that, I'm not opposed to an unpainted trailer.. Never looked bad on my G1 prime.

Because apparently all US kids like to bite on things.

As for the trailer, it's to make the figure cheaper.

Indeed. The Ultimate Optimus had a painted trailer, the recently released Trilogy Prime has a painted trailer, there's no reason they couldn't do the same for MP Prime.

Speaking of Trilogy Prime, I would LOVE to see a US release of MP10 packaged in a similar way. I don't save packages, but I would just really love seeing MP10 in alt mode on the store shelves. :)

you know, one thing that might convince Hasbro to release it with the trailer is if Takara is planning on doing a true Ultra Magnus with this mold then i would make sense to "test the waters" so to speak with a $120 prime with trailer to see if the market would support a release of Ultra Magnus at that price point.

And I could totally see them doing the trailer version as a TRU exclusive and the non-trailer one at mass retail or another toy exclusive.

The last few years we've had the Leader class figs for the adult/high price point part of the line, but there are no leader class figs for this christmas, that would give Hasbro something pricey on toy shelves for Christmas.

When's botcon anyway, 1st week in June? They'll announce it then, I'm sure.

The other question is what will be Hasbro's plan with the new SS masterpiece. If Sideswipe is coming out in Japan this fall, Hasbro has to keep up with 2 per year to not end up completely behind on the schedule...

2 per year = two different retailer exclusives?

    Last week of April.

Releasing new Prime at two different price points would be fine by me though I'd have a hard time deciding whether I wanted to miss the trailer or get the figure cheaper. I'm generally a cheapskate but if they do forge ahead with an Ultra Magnus then I'd probably want Prime to have his trailer too.

Yeah, I'm kinda hoping that's what happens. And it makes sense with no movie stuff for Christmas this year that they'd want some high dollar stuff out there.

Sweet, we'll know pretty soon then.
