....and straight out of the box the build quality feels much better than either MP09 or the hasbro version.

MP09b just feels more solid, with no backpack clipping or shin pop off issues and the guns stay in his hands tightly. The shins look quite well secured this time round, although haven't properly stress tested them yet, just a few movements to see how they respond.

Unsure as to if this is the same mould as V2 MP09, but overall very impressed.

Anybody else with all 3 (or even 4) noticed any other differences between red and black Roddy's?

I got mine last night. The quality is on par with the Hasbro version. I transformed him twice and there haven't been any issues. The backpack clips on A LOT better than the Hasbro version does.

I also put him into Rodimus' Winnebego mode and didn't notice any scratches on the spoiler. All in all, I love the figure. I'll probably keep him in Rodimus mode as my Hasbro version is in Hotrod mode holding the Matrix. Just for kicks, here's a picture of Dark Rodimus with Black Jetwing Prime.

    Yup, both hands fine.

Even with the gun in combined mode still held tightly in one hand.

It all just feels tighter and better made than MP09 or hasbro mp Roddy.

Also, anyone noticed the box is different to other MPs? A sort of dimpled steel background effect as opposed the plain black...

Possibly down to it being an eHobby release rather than direct from Takara.

I noticed scratches on mine. It may be that they were already there, and I only noticed because I didn't look in that level of detail until I was specifically looking for post-Winnebago scratches :)

MP01b and MP03g have the same background as their MP01 and MP03 counterparts, so don't think it's down to ehobby.

Probably just unique to this release like MP04s or MP08x, unless it's also present on MP10.

Cool, good to know. That was one of the things I was curious about since I didn't want a repeat of the first version of MP-9.

Well... I'm back with my collection, now, so... here's some more on MP-09B:

The mould itself seems to be the v2, so it has some improvements...

    He can hold his guns
    [IMG]

    His back clips on properly
    [IMG]

Although I prefer his back "flipped", bringing the fin closer to his head (how I got the back of my v1 MP-09 to stay upright)

He looks great on display with his Decepticon buddies...

... and packs up nicely when he's had enough of them
    [IMG]

For when "outta my way, jerk!" just isn't enough
    [IMG]

    He has a Matrix...

... he can also do a Matrix... kinda...

There does still seem to be an issue with scratching in Winnebago mode (hence no new pictures of that)

I realise it's possible that the scratches may have occured before I transformed him, however the straightness and location of the scratches suggest the tolerances are still a bit too tight.

The only other "v2 niggle" is that to get around the problem with leg panels falling off, they gave them the "plastic rivet" type jonts. Whilst this allows them to pop back on when they do come off, one of them (at least on mine) insists on popping off during each transformatipn. It's almost like he took transformation lessons from Alternators Wheeljack :(

Beyond that, there's no real gripes beyond the existing MP-09 problems that aren't fixable with a minor remould - it's still fiddly, and very tricky to get "just right" in car mode.

But damn, it does look good. I think I'd actually be inclined to say that if you can only afford one of them, unless you have a particular fondness for Hot Rod / Rodimus, go for MP-09B over MP-09, because the black paint scheme is soooo much nicer than the orange.

I've got one that's supposed to arrive today via FedEx. Hopefully it's undamaged and QC checks out. I have to agree this color scheme really works well. It made me want it over the original. I only wish the feet were black or dark grey to better match the shins, but that's not too big a deal.

So what is the general consensus on this? Looking into buying one, is it worth it? The pics of it look awesome! Are all the QC issues from the old Roddy mold resolved?
