Chrome paint job makes it look metal. I could see where you thought it was metal. I was suprised to hear it wasn't.

To be fair to the original poster, it was very much implied at first that he'd have a lot of diecast similar to that of MP-01, but it looks like they ultimately decided against it for the final version of the figure. I guess now the only metal parts he has are small things like joints and whatnot. It's too bad, but then again with all the problems that MP-01/04 have with paint chipping, misaligned chests, etc., it's probably for the best.

Thats fine with me I can't even begin to think about stability nightmares Megatron would have if it were made of diecast...

Yeah, chalk me up as another one who assumed that there would be more metal content in Masterpiece Megatron... I was under the impression that diecast was a hallmark of the MP series.

Part of me is disappointed, but at the same time the romance of diecast is offset by the problems it can cause (paint issues, instability, etc). If the plastic is rugged enough, I have no real complaint.

I'm not at all disappointed by the lack of diecast. The areas that need it are metal, and that's what counts. Plus, as Grimlock_13 said, he'd be a nightmare with more diecast, just like my MP Convoy was.

Question: What is the quality of the plastic? Is it something like the plastic used on MP Prime or closer to MP Starscream?

It feels better than Starscream to me. To be honest, Megatron does feel very sturdy; good job too, considering how you have to manhandle him to transform him.

Good. If there's one I hate it's great Transformers made out of inferior plastic.

What are you talking about, I'm holding my MP-05 right now and his chest is so totally metal. although the guy who sold it to me warned that there have already been some knock-offs coming out of HK.

I am not digging the Megs. If I get it MISB for under 100 bucks I'll dish out the cash. But not at 140 + shipping.
