i ordered my TFC megs thru them way back when, and had no problems - i've preordered MP megs thru hlj.com again - as much as i back bbts, i would rather have an unchanged version

With HLJ do they charge your card first or wait until it ships? And how is shipping? Might give them a shot so avoid the orange barrel.

    When it ships.

HLJ have a habbit of putting sold out preorders on backorder without giving their customers proper notice BTW

I've ordered from HLJ about 30 or 40 times over the past few years (for all the BT and book-style reissues) and I've NEVER had a problem with them.

Well, unless you count the time when they accidentally sent me the same order (of G1 Optimus Prime and G1 Sideswipe) twice.

    Steve.

Oh yeah. 5% off early bird too! I'm not at all worried about HLJ opening and altering my toy. They'll lose my business if there's even a hint of any of that b.s.

I got my Megatron 16-Special reissue from them years ago and I didn't have any problems importing the toy...and it has that large plastic window prominately display Megs in his P-38 form.

HLJ didn't get sell the TFC Megatron or Megatron D16-Special because of it looking like a real gun. :(  I know because I bought every TFC I have except for Megatron and Blaster from them (I have the complete set of TFCs as well). I was able to get Megatron on eBay, and just switched sellers for Blaster.

What're the chances of them altering the mechandise?

I know they're not based in the US but they're still required by the same customs laws. Right?

I *think* they're required by their own countries' customs laws... but not the US' customs laws... different countries.

For example, it is illegal as a US Citizen to purchase and bring in cigars from Cuba. But it is not illegal for a company based in UK to send someone in the US Cuban Cigars.

Granted, if the package containing the cigar gets opened by US Customs, they can't go over to the UK. They will send the US citizen recepient a letter though informing them that they confiscated a package that was addressed to them, but nothing else will happen.

Nothing will happen because they might not have enough proof that you've actually purchased it. If something did happen, then some nut (or your worst enemy) can start sending you contraband from the mail, put in a fake invoice as if you made a purchase and continually send you packages until you get arrested.

Basically, if US Customs decides to open the package, and has a bad day or whatever, decides that it is illegal to receive the merchandise because it doesn't have an orange tip, it is *possible* that it *might* get confiscated, and you won't get it.

Here's the thing - if Megatron is packaged and shipped in robot mode like Prime, why should there be any problems at all?
