If you use Thunderbird to manage a webmail account, like Yahoo, can you export you contacts and import them into another account in Thunderbird?

Details: I'm helping a friend with a problem he's having with his Yahoo account which has been hacked. It's sending spam and viruses out. He wants to convert to gmail or hotmail and just let everyone know the yahoo account is closed. But he has like 200 contacts he'll have to move manually. I was wondering if i can attach both accounts to Thunderbird, export contacts from Yahoo, import them to new account and then delete the Yahoo one. Any experience with that?

Most email providers have the option to export your address book into several formats like .csv and that you can import into Thunderbird or any other email provider.
