Just did exactly that the other day. This guy oozes badass. Now if only getting him into alt-mode wasn't like trying to stuff too much into your suitcase.....

Heh. All my local Walmarts clearanced them out of existence. I snagged an extra with hopes of trading for Crankcase later.

 

Fuck. I’m leaning really close to breaking my MPM rule of only collecting the original 5 Autobots!

Yeah, Brawl isn’t at the top of my priority list either, that honor goes to Grimlock, Blackout and Megatron. However, I’m still going to get him and the rest of the line, maybe even Thundercracker if I’m lucky (I’m sure you know why I said that  ).

 

You know, this figure is growing on me. I didn’t like it at first, but after seeing more and more in hand photos... it honestly doesn’t look all that bad and not as bad as it could’ve been.

 

I know I’m in the minority on this, but I wasn’t all that impressed with the Nitro mold. The non-movie accurate head, the “folded up bot undercarriage” alt mode, the boring paint job, and the huge chunk of kibble that they called a weapon on his right arm were too much of a turnoff for me. There were a lot of positives about the figure, but maybe I didn’t care enough about the character to overlook the flaws.

Long story short I think it’s cool that they did a TC repaint (would be cool to see Skywarp somewhere down the line!) but I’d have preferred it if it was a Starscream repaint instead. I won’t be purchasing, but I’m happy that some people are happy with it.

 

I'm really wondering how the hell I'm going to get an MPM Barricade if TRU is going under...

Online. I already checked at my TRU (Pittsburgh region) and the DC has no orders for him. I'm assuming that he never will be released in my region.

 

I absolutely love this Optimus Prime toy   I honestly do. It’s one of those cases of “don’t judge a book by its cover”, because I honestly think it looks much better in person as opposed to the stock photos Hasbro used. It’s very fun to transform, with it taking design cues from both Evasion mode Optimus Prime and Prime: First Edition Optimus Prime. The size is absolutely perfect when comparing it to other Studio Series figures. I’d dare even go far enough to say that this is probably just as good (if not better than) HftD Voyager Prime! If I had one gripe with the figure (which is a somewhat minor one btw), it would have to be the “backpack” kibble. Like Ratchet, Prime’s Back kibble just kind of droops from is back, and it can be a bit of an eye sore at certain angles. From the front it’s really not that noticeable, but from the back it just stares me in the face, and not in a good way. Overall, if you can find this guy (I got mine at Meijer, so that would be a good place to start your hunt) I’d say definitely pick him up  

 

Wow thanks for the pics! He definitely looks better then the stock photos or the Toy Show ones, but there's still too much that bothers me for a purchase. The unpainted rims, the short smokestacks, and just the trailer hitch area in general. I'm big on clean looking Alt modes even if it detracts from robot accuracy a bit. But thanks again for the pics!

 

We moved recently and I was finally able to get most of my collection out and displayed (our old place was smaller and I was only able to display a few at any time.)

My (almost) definitive DOTM car cast. I'm hoping Dreamfactory comes through with their Roadbuster and Topspin.


Decpticon Flight Line


Decpticon Big Bads. I'll likely replace HA Barry with MPM Barry once he hits Canadian retail.


Core Autobots. Leader Ironhide will probably be replaced with MPM Ironhide. And I'm pretty sure unless there's an MPM Ratchet or an amazing 3rd Party one, Movie 1 Voyager is my definitive.

I'm curious what Hasbro plans to do with all the left over stock of them that would've normally gone to TRU?

 

Thanks for the pics! I’d love to see more pics (maybe with a cleaner background) if you can, especially from the back since you talked about the kibble there. I would probably get this Prime if it had more painted flames. That’s the one thing I can’t add myself (had to wait months for reprolabels to do TLK Voyager Prime), so I need them to do it as much as possible. If I see this guy in an actual store though (I don’t have any meijers anywhere near me) I’d be super tempted to pick him up!

 

Now that the Studio Series voyagers are just showing up, and the deluxes have started showing up not too long ago... I’d imagine the Leaders won’t be too far behind. Any bets as to when they might show up?

 

Probably closer to the April release date. The deluxes and voyagers are showing up at grocery stores and don't think they carry anything as large as leader class.
