After seeing some real crap that hasnt really moved me in the last couple years I was thinking tonight about movies that have really moved me. Like I've wanted to be them or while watching it was just blown away. A movie that comes to mind really quickly is forrest gump. There are so many moments in that film that moved me but mostly towards the end with his son, and thats especially after having a child of my own now. Another movie was gladiator. Holy shit. Just his willingness to do good and be a good father husband soldier leader. Everything he did was for others. I think another movie that moved me recently was 10000 bc. The love he had for the girl he was after was so moving and made me want to be a better husband to my wife. I wont go on and on but you can see where I'm taking this. What movies have moved you and at least influenced you to be a better person?

I'm not sure about movies that motivate me to be a better person but I can name a few movies/TV shows that really get to me. Keep in mind I think I am a mans man. I have a tough job and have seen a lot of horrible things. My emotions are very desensitized so it's not real easy to get to me.
The movie Beaches really gets to me and I cry every time I see it.
Roseanne finale where you find out that like the last two seasons was made up and Dan really died of a heart attack. I cried for like 3 hours and that shit stayed with me for like a week.
Wonder Years finale where you find out Kevin's Dad died and he never got together with Winnie. This one really bothers me because Kevin and Winnie should have got together.
A recent on is the movie Mist where he*spoilers*shoots his kid then the Army shows up right after. I think this one pissed me off more than anything.

I hate every one of the movies mentioned so far... except The Mist.

I prefer movies that rape your soul to those that tug at it like a 14 year old Crippled girl....

I guess it helps I'm not looking to be a better person, certainly not at the cinema.

I can't think of any right off hand, I tend to avoid depressing movies, there's enough to get me down in the real world without a damn movie making it even worse.

I was watching Charlotte's Web yesterday and that's a story that really gets to you.

And speaking of Armageddon, I'm watching that right now.

I attempt to avoid emotional movies the best that I can, but somehow or another I end up seeing some of them anyhow. Mist definitely got to me there at the end. I really wished that had ended a different way. I also was talked into watching The Notebook with my wife. That's another tearjerker. The one that takes the cake though, is The Bucket List. If you don't cry during that movie, you don't have a soul!

    Ok, here is my list:

    1. Finding Nemo- The guy first lost his wife and 499 of his children in the first 10 min. Then his disabled son, the only thing he has left, is stolen from him and could be gone for ever = Made me sad cry...

    2. American Beauty- Kevin Spacey at his finest. This film really made me think about how the perfect life is hardly ever perfect at all= didn't make me cry, but I thought about is for a long time after leaving the theatre.

    3. Rudy- He just wanted to play Football for Notre Dame sooo bad= made me inspirational cry.

There are others including that make me sad or affect me like the above including: Alive, Armageddon, Big Fish, Rain Man and the list could go on.

And to PD31, That ep of Rosanne was f-ed up big time. The last season was so all over the place that I stopped watching it altogether, but I am glad I got to see how they ended it becasue it was such a great show.
