Ok, so after the news of the AWESOME new Willy Wonka horror film Gobstopper, I was wondering what other films could work as a horror film. What you guys think?

I dont quite follow what is being asked here. I will comment, that if they make a Metroid film, it's gotta have horror.

What the OP is refering to is, a movie that isn't a horror movie, that has potential to be one, if they were aiming at horror. For instance, Mary Poppins, a family movie, that with the right tweaking, can be made a horror movie. Kinda like the psychotic nanny who tortures children...

That Gump one was pretty good.

Obviously Ghostbuster has major potential as a horror movie.

And I'll throw in Harry and the Hendersons.

Yeah, that one had major potential for it. Fact is, some of the stuff in there was pretty scary.

I thought The Nothing was scary when I was a kid. That was an awesome movie for it's time. Imagine if that was remade today. Coarse, it would be all CG crap. But picture it in 3D!

The Little Mermaid. Seriously, if based on the book. That's some freaky stuff. I swear, Hans Christian Anderson must have been beaten as a child or something.

I always thought that the original "Alien" was more of a dark comedy. Think about it, everybody on the ship was looking for that little lizard bastard and kept winding up face to face with an 8 foot tall monster.
it was funny to me. I kept thinking the characters were talking out loud to themselves like, "where are you, you little bastard? when i get my hands on you, gonna make a pair of shoes outta your..." and big alien is there, ready to eat them.

that's why i am not mocking this thread. comedy or horror can come from some odd places.

"Beetlejuice" could go either way- comedy or horror. I'd love to see a darker, rougher cut of that flick.

    "The Addams Family", as well.

Home alone. Disturbed and kid, neglected and abandoned by his parents, goes psycho on a pair of unwitting home invaders.
James And The Giant Peach - kid discovers a gang of insectoid mutants who live in a giant fruit (obviously rotting) and convinces them to exact revenge on his cruel family.
